I have a droopy eye *update*
Permalink Closed

I know it sounds funny, but i just found out I have a droopy eye.  I called my eye doctor and they are very concerned, they wanted to see me right away, today, but im at school 3 hours away.  So i have to drive back home tomorrow and get it checked out (I just got back to school from the memorial day weekend).  They said that if I dont get it checked within the next few days I could lose my vision!  Im not looking forward to driving all the way back home and back to school again and missing classes when I have finals in less than a week!  But my optamologist is ranked in the top ten in the country, so my parents are forcing me to.

Has anyone had this or heard of someone having this?  I hear I may have to get like an outpatient surgery :(

We first noticed it in pictures I have been in recently and its apparently very very uncommon for this to happen to someone that is only 24, usually it happens to people in their 70s and 80s.

***************** UPDATE***********

Well when I saw the doc this morning he said that he doesnt see anything wrong and that my eye is like that because thats just the way I am/made.  He said the only thing he would be concerned with is that theres a possibility I could be developing myasthenia gravis.  He wanted to see pictures from years ago, so I went back to his office with the pics and he doesn't seem to think there is a difference in my eye from them.   I still think there is a difference, but he is suppose to be one of the best in the country, so theres not much else i can do.

I don't know anything about eyes.  I actually can't stand eyes it grosses me out.  I hope everything turns out ok for you and I'm sure your teachers will understand you missing over this.

don't mess around with your vision! I had a really bad eye infection this year and it hurt my classes (teachers were not understanding) but t's better than the alternative! Take care of yourself sweetie! And I'm so glad you're going to the best doctor...

My mother just recently had a surgery for this. It really helped her vision, she looks much better and she was very happy with it.

They also talked her into raising her eyebrows a little. That really wasn't necessary but they talked her into it and it was a horrible thing....she is older and it didn't heal right at first. The eyebrows look fine but it was a huge ordeal and left a small hole in her head which is just now almost healed several months later. They said that was a rare thing and she was sent to several different doctors to have them look at it. She had to have a home health nurse come 2 times a week to change bandages and clean it so that it wouldn't get infected. She said she wishes she hadn't let them do the eyebrow part. It really is much better now though.

Nicoley,

I'm glad to hear it looks like everything is okay!

(There's no harm in getting a second opinion if it's still bugging you. I say that just because I feel like you are more familiar w/ your body and it's changes then a doctor is.)
