How many times do you use--wash cloth, towel, toothbrush

just curious?

Hubby and I are having a big discussion about towels--He wants to use them once at home which I find ridiculous. YOu are clean when you get out of the shower!!--- I am thinking 3 times on a towel, once on a face cloth.

I agree once on the face cloth. You are right, when you get out of the shower, you are clean. We use ours about three times UNLESS we are really sweaty and gross before a shower. On a normal bases I don't feel like I really get dirty. I am in the a/c at home and at work (even in the summer) I wear pants and a sweater to keep from freezing. I still take a shower because I would feel gross if I didn't though. But on the 90 degree days if DH goes on a motorcylce ride or we have just been doing stuff outside it's different. Maybe it's weird but in those cases (even though a shower obviously makes you clean) I still feel like somehow the germs got on the towel lol.

I recently read an article about towel re-use (!) that said they are fine to use 3x - after that they start to be an attractive place for mold and other unsavory things to grow.

only using a towel once could get to be huge load of laundry! and, in my opinion, a waste of water and detergent. I don't have a set number of days that I use towels, after a few days when it occurs to me I'll pitch it in the hamper. But I know that sometimes I use them for a while before I think about it. But I don't really use my towels that much, after a shower I'll put one on my head and fasten one around my torso, then I basically "air dry" while I check my email, iron what I'm going to wear, etc. The towel is mainly to keep my butt warm when I sit down :)

Once sounds reasonable on the face cloths, because they're so small and your face is so important. But I use the disposable ones with the soap already in them, so I don't even have a day count on mine

towel 3X

toothbrush 2months After each use I put it in a bit of peroxide and make sure to store it in a dry cover that can get air.

washcloth I use one for my body and one for my face. I just can't put the same cloth on my face. I change these when I change the towel- 3x

I wash towels and sheets once a week. So we use the towels (and washcloths) much more than 2-3 times.

Toothbrushes - about three months. We have Sonicare and I think that's what's recommended for changing the brush heads. When we had regular toothbrushes we changed more often, because I always felt like the bristles got flattened out sooner.

I only use my bath towels 1x, I wrap my hair up in them and they get really wet, plus I love the feeling of a fresh, fluffy towel.  My hand towels I use for a few days.

I use a new towel & wash cloth every time I shower. Usually I use my towel to wipe up the counter / floor in my bathroom for a quick touch up OR I use it while I put on my makeup & clean my brushes on it so it's dirty either way. DH hangs his towel for a few days which i do appreciate but it grosses me out for whatever reason.

Toothbrushes - I have about 4 toothbrushes. I am terrible about remembering to pack it when I travel, which lately has been pretty often, so I kind of rotate them. I throw it out if it looks icky or I don't remember how old it is, but I honestly don't keep track.

I wash sheets and towels once a week and replace our toothbrushes about every 3 months.  I don't feel the need to do any more than that.

oh lordy.  I replace all towels once a week (except kitchen towels - those are more like 2-3 times a week), sheets about once a month, and toothbrushes when the bristles start bending out or when I go to the dentist whichever is first.

i guess i'm disgusting.

once every two weeks for the towels and washcloths. if i had a house or even in-unit washer/dryer (something that doesn't come in 1BR apartments under $1875 in LA), it would be way more often.

once every three months for the toothbrush unless the bristles bend earlier.

I go weeks without washing my towels..whatever! I always hang them up to dry and they never really seem dirty to me. It's not like I'm using the same towel for weeks, but I rotate through them for at least 3 weeks before I do the entire load.

I wash my face in the morning in the shower and then just use regular towels to dry it..and then at night I just use those make-up removers. I don't have any zits..but if I wash my face more than my usual morning wash..I will get them.

I watched this thing on tv once about bath towels.  They say you should only use them once even though you are clean when you get out of the shower.  You always have skin flaking off and with the moisture in the towel, that is major bacteria growth.  Also, if your towel is within 10 feet of your toilet and you flush it top open, eeew.

I use two towels, a smaller and thinner one for my hair, and a large fluffy one for my body.  So I use them 2-3 times before washing them.

eh...I'm not really that stressed about germs and bacteria and all that stuff. I mean, I am a super healthy person and rarely get sick..so, it can't be hurting me all that much.

I think we are too germ/bacteria conciencious (sp?)!  Germs and bacteria are everywhere, including inside our vaginas so I think they are ok.  Plus, when we are exposed to germs and bacteria we build immunities and actually improve our immunity.  It's when we aren't exposed to germs and bacteria and haven't been able to build immunitities that we tend to get sick.

I change bath towels after about three uses.  Hand towels are changed on a daily basis because I use them to wipe counters and/or floors for daily maintence.  I change my toothbrush twice a year because that's what Sonicare recommends.

I use one towel for a week and change my sheets once a week (I don't know if you asked about that, but I noticed others supplied that info).  I would like to change my sheets twice a week, since our cats sleep in bed with us, one of whom sheds too much, but I don't have an extra set of sheets to do that.  I change my towel if I feel it is not drying properly but I generally have no problem with using it for a week.  Though, I would switch it more often if I had more of them.
