I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks where the bride's theme color is lavendar. Does that mean I shouldn't wear a dress with any shade of purple in it? I ordered a dress online that has purple (a darker shade than her theme color) and green in it -- maybe it won't fit in person anyway, but I'm wondering if it's inappropriate to wear, or would make me look like I'm trying to be part of the bridal party. Yes, I worry too much sometimes. :) TIA!
Is it inappropriate to wear the same color as the bridal party? I mean, if I knew ahead of time for a wedding I was going to, I would have the same concerns as you and try not to wear the same colour. But I'm just asking in general - because some weddings there's no way I could know what the colors are until I get there!

I think I got the last one because it's not listed on the site anymore, so I couldn't find a bigger picture.
Normally I don't worry about whether or not I'm wearing the bridal party color -- like ttara said, you usually don't know what it is until you get there -- but in this case I heard ahead of time. It's my boyfriend's sister, which I didn't mention before.
I copied it and made it larger in Word. It looks like it is mainly green with purple flowers in clumps on it. I think it should be fine. If it was all purple I would say no, but since it predominately green I think you will be okay.

HeatherLynn, I am so impressed with your computer skills! Seriously. I'm going to try to do that in Word. Thanks, everyone, I feel better about wearing it.
Don't be too impressed. It is really, really fuzzy when you enlarge it.

I think you are totally fine with that dress. In all honesty, how many brides are going to scope out guests attire and compare shades with her bridal party? She's going to have her eyes on her honey :) Don't sweat it. That dress is perfect in my opinion. Have fun!
I hardly remember what my guests wore to my actual wedding, but I do remember that all weekend my guests were decked out in pink and green and it was a very special touch to me. I loved that my guests got into my theme. But as you all know I have I dream of pink and green tatooed on my forehead.
So back to answering your question, the dress seems very appropriate and I think it is a nice touch that since it is your boyfriend's sister that you would compliment the wedding colors!
That's so funny! This just happenned to me at a family wedding. I had no idea what I was gonna wear since I had two weddings with the same people in a row. So I borrowed a dress for the first wedding, asked what colors the bridesmaids were wearing and no one knew. So when I showed up I was wearing the EXACT SAME COLOR as the bridal party! Honestly I was horrified! It was more stressful for me than anyone else. But when I approached the bride she said she loved my dress and the reason she had the bridesmaids wear that color was because it was her FAVORITE color. So try to find out ahead of time, if you cant then enjoy. Remember the bride will probably LOVE it since she probably picked it!
