My parents have a lot of physical similarities, so there are some things I think I got from both:

Mom:

most of my facial features, though I look more like her family than her specifically

Dad:

my hands (skinny fingers, big knuckles)
quick thinking/occasional wittiness
occasional superiority complex
OCD and anxiety disorder

appreciation for the arts/aesthetics (though I missed out on his talent for them)
generosity and a love of gift-giving
impatience

From both: a love of reading, writing, clothes and dogs!

Mom:

-Tendency to talk with my hands

Dad:

-Work ethic

-Blue eyes

-Ability to tan if I work at it (and did I ever, when I was 16-18), even though I got my mom's fair skin

Mom:

• No-nose (the bridge of my nose does not exist)

• Hands/long nails


• Thick, healthy hair.

Dad:

• Eyebrows


• Crappy eyesight


• Large teeth


• Intelligence/love of Education


• Body shape...I have the curves of the women on his side of the family.


• Spending habits


• Love of fashion. He's got a penchant for classic Lacoste/Ralph Lauren and always wore a wool trench with a newsboy hat during NYC winters.


• Large feet (well...larger than my mom's side. I can't really find shoes in Asia)

Although both sides of the family have big noses, I got my mom's. Also from my mom is her awkwardness in striking up conversations with aquaintances, love for the outdoors and her always trying but never really succeeding need for crafts. Also, her polycystic ovarian syndrome. That's not as fun.

From my dad I got fierce family loyalty, thyroid problems, preference to work late and in long streches, weird sense of humor, and distrust of letting others have control of situations.

From both of them I got a big respect for and awe of marriage, valuing education above most other things (exept my father has since seemed to regret this a little as my educational goals have become more erudite than practical...he really loathes my Latin minor and the fact that I don't know Spanish instead), and great gobs of hair on my head

from my mom i got, uuummm, not a lot.  i am short and she is 6ft5.  she has black and brown eyes, and i am blonde and blue eyes.  we do kind of like some of the same music.  i did get her skin though.  she has had 4 kids without 1 strech mark, and so far i have 1 kid and no strech marks. 

from my dad, i'm not really sure.  i met him only a few times when i was about 5 or 6.  but some of his old friends that are friends with my aunt, have said that our personalities are a lot alike and we like a lot of the same music and music groups.  i got my height from him i guess.  he is short too.  um, it is weird that we are so much alike and we were never around each other.  my mom said that we have the same taiste in decorating.  we both like the odd stuff that most people think is ugly.  but he is 100% itaian and also has dark hair and dark eyes and is very tan, so i guess, i got my hair and eyes from the milk man.

From my dad (I've never met him, so I'm going on pictures and family stories)
- love of cooking
- a tendency to raise one eyebrow a lot

- basically all of my facial features (which is ok, he was supposedly a model - but I wish he'd passed on better eyebrows, they're really weird, sort of thin at the start and bushier at the end, very hard to get waxed properly...)

From my mom
- my Latin butt
- an ability to read people (I'm not so sure this is an inherited trait, she was pretty explicit about teaching me this one)
- big, white smile (everyone in my family has the same smile - it's funny to see us all smiling in a pix)
- pretty much utter hairlessness from the eyebrows down - I'm a brunette but my leg hair was blond until I was 24. I miss that, but it's still not very bad.
