I'm not sure if anyone would remember, but I've mentioned before that I'm going on vacation to Disney World in a few weeks. My boyfriend and I are going with another couple. We are staying at a fairly expensive resort in the park, but luckily we aren't paying for it. They guy's grandfather has some sort of time share-type deal in the resort, and he offered to put us up for the week. My boyfriend and I would like to give him and his wife something for being so generous, but I'm running low on ideas. The only things I can think of are flowers or a fruit basket. I'd like to give them something a little less generic... we may or may not meet and have brunch with them on our last day there, so I'd prefer that the gift could be ordered and sent. Any ideas? TIA

a really nice bottle of wine and a bouquet of flowers? I don't know if you can order and send that anywhere, but it's the first thing I thought of.

What do they like? Do they normally live in FL? How old are they ? 60's, 70's, later?

i always send an orchid. better than an arrangement of flowers that dies in a couple days, and very elegant.

They live in FL year-round, and I'm assuming that they're somewhere in their 60's or early 70's (we are all early 20's). All I know about them is that the grandfather used to be a priest. I think this is why I'm having trouble... I'm thinking too carefully about that

He used to be a priest? and he's married...or just a preacher/reverend. Okay, I have a reverend in my family and I know a priest because my bf's Catholic! Catholic priests are funny. They like to drink, so a bottle of wine might be a good option. A nice red!


Now, if he's a reverend, that may not be the case.


An orchid as stated previously is a fabulous idea. They are delicate, sweet and last a bit longer! I would try this. It is perfect for anyone, older couples will love.


Or my grandpa loves fruit! Maybe a gift box of fruit. Oranges, tangerines, etc. Older people like fruit, right!? They need it to run correctly:)

I think fruit is a great idea! When you get to be older, you don't exactly need a lot of stuff anymore -- you've had a lifetime to accumulate everything -- but food is always a good thing. Also, I've noticed with my grandpa that the older he gets, the more he likes eating sweet foods like fruit.

As far as I know, he was a priest. Maybe he quit the church (would you say resigned? I don't know) and got married... who knows. It was mentioned in conversation, and I thought it would be rude to point out that a priest doesn't have a wife.

Have they always lived in Florida? If not, maybe they would like something they could only get at home (wherever they lived before moving to Florida).  I have a friend who moved to FL from OK. Whenever I stay with her I bring her a certain type of pickles that she loves but can't get in Destin. Something from "home" is always nice...
