My SIL did this and lost some weight; but as soon as she went off it (like most other diets) she gained it back. She seemed content with the diet/food choices while she was on it though.

I just finished Phase 1 (2 weeks of restrictive eating) and I lost 7.5 pounds. I'm pretty happy about it. I'm going on to Phase 2 today. We're having pizza tonight with whole wheat crust and soy cheese, so I'm hoping that's yummy. If so, then the boy can live with South Beach, at least for awhile. Pizza is his thing.

I'm looking forward to incorporating fruit and whole grains back into my diet. For me, I think it's good. I've always known I needed to give up bad carbs but I was never really motivated to do it before. I feel like I can handle everything on South Beach right now. It doesn't seem terribly restrictive (Phase 2) and if I have a bad weekend or something, I can just go back to Phase 1 for a week to lose that weight. I kind of like knowing what's good and bad food to eat although I'm still getting used to the "science" behind it. We'll see.

All in all, pretty successful thus far though. I plan on doing this until I can't any longer and then heading back to WW on the core program.

Good for your Blubirde!  I wanted to try to do this diet again!  Did you have migraines?  Everytime I've tried the phase 1 of this diet, I quit before the second week due to the major migraines from lack of caffiene (soda junkie).  Keep up the good work!

I do get migraines but I haven't had one since I started SB. I drink diet drinks though, so I don't worry about no caffeine. Do you drink coffee or tea? That could help.

I have done it before in the past.  Phase 1 is tough, but I think that phases 2 and 3 are great for a healthy lifestyle.  However, I can't completely cut out any food group or I'll want it even more, so I could never stick with it!  IMO, South Beach is 100 times better than Atkins or any other low carb plan!
