Mystic Tan?
Permalink Closed

I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and I'm as pale as a ghost.  I did Mystic Tan once, like 3 years ago, and I can't really remember anything about it.

Is this the best route for me to go to have some color of the wedding?  For girls that are familiar w/it, it won't leave me looking too fake baked or orange and streaky will it?

TIA!

I actually just had this done last night as I'm planing on wearing a dress to graduation on Sunday and I'm really pale.  When I woke up this morning I freaked out because I thought that I was way too tan however after my intial freak-out and reassurance from a friend I'm glad I did it.  I think that since I haven't been tan in so long I just forgot what I look like tan!  Plus it's cool and rainy here today so being tan seems out of place.

One of my elbows is really dark and the other is streaky so I scrubbed like crazy in the shower this morning and it didn't make a lot of difference.  Some patches near the soles of my feel are really dark too.  I'm used to self-tanner I've used at home (Clarins/Neutrogena) and exfoliating usually works so I was suprised at the staying power of this stuff!  However I'm planning on wearing a cardy with my dress and slingbacks so I'm not too concerned about it.  If you're planning on wearing a dress to the wedding make sure you can cover any areas that might be uneven/too dark.  I didn't really think about it while I was tanning but if I'd not planned on wearing a cardigan or was going to wear strappy sandals I'd be pretty annoyed.  Also, if my hands had come out streaky I'd have been mortified!

I do wish that I'd tried this a couple of weeks ago because then I'd have done a better job rubbing it in after I'd been sprayed.  And I should have moisturized my elbows and feet right before the tan.  Now that I'm used to it I do think that it's a nice golden colour and it's even everywhere except my elbows and feet.

I was going to do this last year but didn't get around to it since the nearest one is about 30 miles away.

On the mystic tan website they show a pretty good video how to get the best tan with their booth.  http://www.mystictan.com/experience/howworks.asp

Twinkle Star, did you exfoliate before and use the barrier cream on the hands and feet?

So I did it on Friday.  I was really disappointed that the color wasn't darker.  It was way too light, so I actually went back Saturday morning to get more color.  I definitely got tan, but it was more of a subtle glow.  I swear last time I did Mystic, I was way darker.  Anyhow, no matter how much barrier cream I put on my hands and feet, those are still the darkest part of me.  I didn't notice any streaking or any bad smell though.  Overall, it was a good, quick way to get color, I just didn't think it was enough color.
