Quick Denim Question - Light Bermudas yes or no?

I found a really cute pair of distressed bermudas with great back pocket detailing, but I'm hesitating because they are really light denim. 


I've seen light denim in some magazines, but I'm do NOT want to look like I'm back in the 80's.


Can I pull this off with a cute top?  What do you think?

I personally have an aversion to any light denim. I like it dark, dark, dark.

not really a fan of super-light denim. Medium-dark to dark is my preference.

How light is really light?  I think light denim looks best when you try a VERY casual look with them.  Trying to dress them up or make them look nicer by putting a nice top with them tends to give off that 80's look. I am totally a dark denim girl (they are a lot more forgiving on my "curves" ) I guess it depends on whether they just look worn or acid washed.

I also really only like dark denim, but it depends on the wash I have seen some light denims that are kind of cute!
