Favorite Banana Pudding Recipe?
Permalink Closed

Anyone have a banana pudding recipe that they just love? I'm not a fan of the vanilla pudding recipes that you just add some banana slices. I like it to be really banana-ey. I have the Magnolia Cookbook, but their's says to add 3 cups of heavy cream...which seems like a lot. So any banana pudding recipe would be great. Thanks

have you thought about using the banana creme pudding instead of vanilla?  It might work.  I make a WW version so it definetly doesn't use heavy cream but it basically uses the same recipe as what is on a box of pudding so I'm not much help.

Seriously, this is so good. I hated to post it again because I just put it in Collette's call for fruity desserts, but it bears repeating in case you didn't see it. Tons of people ask for the recipe after they taste it & a group I'm in requests it every time I go there. I must admit it's not very banana-y, but you could use banana instead of vanilla pudding as aurora suggested & add more banana slices if you prefer. I personally think it is perfection as is, but it may not be what you are looking for.

Banana Pudding
vanilla wafers
2 small instant vanilla pudding
3 cups milk
1 can condensed milk
3 bananas
1 tbsp vanilla
1 large cool whip
Mix pudding with milk & beat until smooth. Add condensed milk & vanilla. Line large mixing bowl w/ vanilla wafers & top with bananas. Stir cool whip into pudding. Pour 1/2 of mixture over wafers & banana. Put another layer of cookies & bananas. Top with rest of pudding mixture. Chill overnight (or at least a few hours if possible)

Best banana pudding recipe ever!  My mom has been making it since I was a kid and I love it!  She got it off the back of the Eagle Brand sweetned condensed milk can!  I used one pack of banana pudding instead of one of the vanillas to make it more banana-y when I make it though.

Hee hee. I guess I know where my mom snagged the recipe from as well! That's ok, I guess I'll still give her credit for trying it & making it her own!

Yeah I will admit I felt a little dissapointment when I found out where she got it.  I just assumed it was an old recipe all those years!  I love this banana pudding so much though!  My mom actually made some this weekend using all low fat ingredients and it was just as good (didn't set up as good as the original kind though).

Isn't it though? Eagle has been around for a long time hasn't it?

ILC, I'd say maybe 15 - 20? I'm guessing of course but it's a pretty good bit.

It looks like the bowl I make it in holds 3 1/2 quarts & it's pretty much full - if that helps at all.

yum i love banana pudding, but i've made the magnolia one and had it at the bakery and it's good but soooooooooooooo rich. i think there is a recipe on the nilla box that's pretty good but it's basically just pudding, banana slices, nilla and whipped topping.

I just ran across this version from Paula Dean so you know its bad for you but probably really tasty.

Not Yo' Mama's Banana Pudding Recipe courtesy Paula Deen

Recipe Summary
Difficulty: Easy
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 12 servings
User Rating:

2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
6 to 8 bananas, sliced
2 cups milk
1 (5 -ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding
1 (8 -ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14 -ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12 -ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream

Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.
In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
