How Often Do You Wear the Same Outfit?
Permalink Closed

I try not to wear the same outfit, but some outfits I really love and will wear a few times.  Also, if I'm going out of town I sometimes wear repeated outfits because it takes the stress out of packing and I'm in a different place anyway.  It gets really hard at the end of seasons though.  My friends and DH say it's fine to wear the same thing over and over.  Don't get me wrong it's not like each outfit is strikingly unique, I mean it's the same clothes so a lot of times things can look similar.  Do you girls have this hang up too?

Yes I do have the same issue.  What is so stupid is that due to the nature of my job I never see the same people anyway so I should just pick a couple of really cute outfits and just rotate them.  I just like variety and feel I owe it to myself to have variety in my clothes.  I know that is stupid though.

It depends on the outfit. Some thing simple like a sweater/cami/skirt/shoe combination I'll repeat (but try not to do too close together). But something that's more styled and memorable I'll try not to repeat- at least for a very long time.

I hate to wear the same outfit twice, but right now, I hate all of my clothes, too. So, if I find some combination that I really like at the moment, I'll wear it again.

I'm in the process of a complete wardrobe overhaul, at least for work. I have tons of casual stuff and my office is casual, but my boss has recently complained that it's getting too casual in there. So, I want to step it up a notch. I need to go on a major shopping spree, but I'm saving up for it. And then, I'll just add other things little by little. But until then, I have a very limited amount of clothes that I can wear to work, so re-wearing is a necessary evil.

I rarely wear the same outfit. I will if I'm in a major hurry in the morning and don't have time to try to think of something, then I'll just default to an outfit I made in the past that I like.

Some weekend run-errands-outfits like jeans and hoodies, I will repeat.

Very rarely do I wear the same outfit, and if I do, it's no sooner than a month later.

Some items I have only go with a few outfits (I can't think of any new ones), so I'll wear those several times a season. I will change it up with different shoes/bags/jackets/jewelry though.

i never use to wear the same thing but since I travel a lot more than I use to, I find myself grabbing the same outfit every so often when I pack!

I don't really like to "think" about what I'm going to wear each day so it sucks to HAVE to do it!

there are some outfits I definitely repeat - sometimes it just looks too good to bury after one day! Like ILC said, if it's really memorable I'll try not to do it again for a long time, so those are usually outfits I wear out at night. But for work, etc., I repeat outfits a lot. I'm trying to mix things up, I gained weight and am in the middle of a major wardrobe overhaul, so at the moment I don't have enough clothes to switch it around as often as I'd like. But I'm trying to get things now that mix and match easily, so I can come up with something new all the time.

Too often, though, I just fall in love with an outfit and wear it over and over

ETA: Some things I have are soooo hard to match, that once I find the perfect skirt/shirt/shoes that go with it, I have no choice but to wear that over and over! It took me forever to find a shirt that went with my favorite skirt. I accidentally stained it, and they don't sell the shirt anymore, so I can't even bust my skirt out yet!

1.  Work - it varies - my court clothes repeat all the time - it's a suit and a button down - so not a ton of room for creativity.

2. Work - not court - I have some staple outfits that I can count on - I try to rotate them - but a lot of the time I just throw something on and go with it.  I am sort of lazy in the mornings.  Or, if I do mix it up - I try not to wear something super memorable for a while.

3.  Weekend - running errands or shopping - I like to wear flats - so it sort of limits the jeans I wear - lots of the same jeans - but I mix up the tops and sweaters - or now that it's warm the skirts and flip flops.

4.  Going out - I try to wear all the fun shoes that I own that don't work with work clothing - and as they tend to be heels- again the tall jeans.  I try to rotate amongst the favorite tops - and mix up the jeans/skirts...but I like having some good staple outfits that always work.

I try not to repeat the same outfit unless a month has gone by.  For work, I'll repeat tops, pants and skirts after two weeks but in different combinations.

I have a standard outfit that I always wear when I fly (jeans, cashmere cardigan, tee, flats or pumas) but the combination changes once in a while.  Same with travel for work and play.  I have go-to outfits that I just throw in the suitcase.

I may run into some trouble this summer because I have a bunch of new dresses, and when it gets hot, I can't mix up what I wear over or under them.

I know what you mean!  I have been buying tons of dresses this season and there's only so many ways to wear them without looking contrived.  I figure it'll just have to be a signature-thing this summer.  So, you're not alone there.  I'm going to try to not wear the same dress for at least two weeks, and the best I can figure is that some can be dressed up or down, but other than that I don't know.

I generally try not to wear the same outfit, unless it's just when I'm knocking around on the weekends.  If I do wear the same outfit to work or whatever, then I'll space it out and try to wear different jewelry.  I hardly know anyone here, so I feel like if I have a really cute outfit and wear it to two different places, no one is going to know.    But I do like to mix it up as much as possible just for myself.
