I just don't get it. Does anyone care if he soaks himself in water for 7 days or holds his breath for 8 minutes?? Doesn't he know magicians are supposed to do magic tricks???

Well I do get it, I watched the show and I have liked David Blaine for years now.  Especially after first seeing Street Magic and then watching him in interviews, including one with Howard Stern back when he was preparing to do the ice stunt.

There's a difference between his personal endurance tests/shows and his actual magic tricks, but the thing in common, I think, is his mind control.

I can understand how some people just don't get him or find his stunts to be gimicky or think it's stupid.  But I find it all fascinating, his personality is very unique and his magic is so good it's almost scary to wonder too much about.

I happen to also prefer his magic tricks over his death-tempting stunts, but since I like the guy, I watch anyway and am always amazed.

His magic tricks are unreal!  I'll never forget the NYC special where he stopped a woman in the street and made the watch she was wearing appear in the display of a CLOSED! store.  This lady was totally amazed and so was I.  Very cool stuff this guy does.  I like him.

I saw part of an interview he did on Best Week Ever and Kelly Ripa asked him the same thing.  He said "you're swimming in it" or something to that effect.  Can we say groooooss? I saw that interview with Kelly Ripa-- he was just kidding. After he said that, he showed her the tubes that were like vacuums or something and just sucked it all out when he went to the bathroom in them (still gross, but hey)

That's a relief!
