Looks like I am tenatively scheduled to come at the beginning of August (around the weekend of the 5/6th). What are some things to do/places to shop/great places to eat in Philly?

I want to go to KoP and see some of the American History stuff (ie Liberty bell). What else should I not miss? I'm sure my "tour guide" (the fabulous relrel) will have lots of ideas but I'm curious to see what others would say too.

Also Philly area girls would anyone like to go for drinks/brunch/hangout whatever in that time? Nyla, Jocey, Nicoley, Erin maybe? I'd love to meet you guys.

Me, me!!! I'll come! That's actually the weekend of my birthday, so I'll probably be in Atlantic City that weekend, but that would be a fun trip for you, too!!!

Definitely hit Old City for the trendy bars/lounges. Rittenhouse has some great places, too and there are a good amount of stores along Walnut Street in that area. Check out the National Constitution Center for some historic entertainment.

You'll be there for First Friday, so definitely do that! It's in Old City and they open up the galleries, shops and restaurants and people just mill around from place to place. There's also lots of wine tasting. If you're into Breweries, go to Yardley's in Northern Liberties. You can get a tour and taste the beer!

PM me if you want any other info.

I would LOVE to meet up. Let me know where and when. I would prefer to be included in your plans the day you plan to hit up KOP!

You might want to pick up the the June Lucky.  They picked Philadelphia for their shopping destination report.  I would love to see the flagship Anthro store

blah...flagship my ass. if this site truly does have more selection than most than id hate to see the others. when i think of flagship i think of large, large spaces and this anthro isn't really that large. yes, there are four floors but the floors aren't really that large. and shit, it totally doesn't overlook rittenhouse square, its on street that runs perpindicular to the park and faces the street not the park!

anyway...enough venting about the crapass shopping destination report.

if anybody else wants to join our tour de philly then welcome aboard! im thinking of hitting up the continental for yummy drinks, northern liberties for funky/gritty bar scenes, atlantic city for boardwalk fries and sunburnt skin (nyla...we will totally have to meet up!), and maybe fairmount if its not too freaking hot by then. oh yeah...and the art musuem too!

Well that sucks  I'm always curious if there is an Anthropologie outlet store anywhere.  I would totally go dumpster diving behind their factory/flagship store lol!

i agree relrel.  i always found a ton more things at the anthro in wayne than when i went downtown.  in fact, when i lived there i never knew that it was the flagship store.  i thought they just had to have that layout due to the space.

i was never there when zara was opened, so i really want to check out that store during my trip this summer (date has yet to be determined), so i think you should go there too.

also, i would still pick up the lucky.

i would also check out manayunk.  you could go during the day maybe for lunch, then go to the mainline area for some boutiques/wayne anthro., and finallly hit up kop for dinner/shopping.  if you're at kop on a thursday, i would suggest rock bottom for some drinks.  they used to have $1 beers (their brewed beers) on thursday.  that would be a long day of shopping, but i think that manayunk and the boutiques on the mainline are really nice.

also, if you go to atlantic city, i think you should go to sea isle city or any other location in addition to atlantic city.  in my opinion there's atlantic city AND the shore.  sea isle city, avalon, etc... is what i think of when i think of the shore, not atlantic city.  but that's just my opinion.

also, i think some water ice might be in store.

Forever 21 (my curiousity is peaked, I have never been to one)
Urban Outfitters

...ok? Can you hook me up, Rel?

I would definitely love to meet up!  Just remind us closer to the date. And RelRel, im aboard the tour de philly :)

Among what has already been listed, I also like to go to franklin mills one day to check out the off saks and last call neimans, I usually find really good deals there, but its all about timing.

Im sure you will be doing some shopping in center city, one of the stores I always like to hit is UBIQ, they always have really awesome shoes, and cool limited edition puma/addidas gear, among other regular clothing. I actually think it is better for guys, but I still really like this boutique for some reason.

Also, if you like FCUK, there is a store on south street, but there really isnt anything else around there IMO, other than Jims Cheesesteaks :)

Def worthwhile, IMO. Nyla might disagree with me. She's a city-girl at heart. :)

The outlets are pretty good, especially for basics and casual wear like Gap, Banana, Polo, Jcrew.

I seriously live 3 minutes from the outlets. I can have you all over for lunch!!!!!!

RelRel, since you seem to be the girl in charge of this, is this just a one day ST meet up or is it like a week long event? I really hope I can meet up with everyone, this sounds so fun!

Paramus is around 2.5 hours from Philly...it's in northern NJ and much closer to NYC. There is a really cool mall there, though, the Garden State Plaza...and if you have expensive taste, I also love Riverside Square.

I'm envious over here...I used to go to Franklin Mills all the time when I was little since it was down the street from the Buddhist temple my family went to.

Ooooh, I want to come too! I'd be in for a shopping day anywhere and I'll be in town during that time too.

Metric, you can come over to Princeton too, lots of great boutique shopping, good food and roaming around the university is fun and the gardens are gorgeous too.

Oh Ally, I'd love to meet you too! My only concern is time...I will only be there for 5 or so days.

Is Princeton far? Isn't it in New Jersey? I'd don't think we'll have access to a vehicle, is there a train or something?

Sorry if this sounds really clueless...but isn't it far to travel to a different state?

Philly is at the very bottom corner of the state. And only a few minute drive (over a bridge) to NJ.

Where we live.. You can get to NJ, Delaware and Maryland all within an short drive (less than an hour).
