What is your hair styling routine?

I use FF Glossing cream and either blowdry or put up. It looks best when I take it down in the middle of the day 'cause it's had time to sit and it looks all sleek and shiney. If I blowdry or leave it down in the morning it's never quite right, unless it's 2nd day hair and I put glossing cream in it.

What techniques and products do you all use?

My gosh, i'm so lazy that I just wash and comb. Maybe if i'm feeling extra special, i'll use Sebastian Potion 9, Pureology Shine Max and blow dry but my hair is so fine, I can't really do anything. I should go back to using that XXL mousse.

I wash every day, then use some V05 volumizing mousse and blow-dry it, if I need to look extra nice I'll use a roundbrush and if I need to revive my hair before going out at night, I use brilliant brunette finishing creme on my roots and spread it through my hair

On days I wash it, I usually but some curl enhancer on the bottoms and scrunch it up for waves. After that, I do nothing each morning except brush it and sometimes spritz water in it to revive the waves, if I'm going for that look. Occasionally I'll take the flat iron to my bangs so they don't go all freaky on me. I usually spend about 1 minute on my hair in the mornings.

1. Shampoo and Condition
2. Towel Dry
3. Spray on protective styling spray
4. Blow dry
5. Add some frizz-ease cream
6. straight iron sections that aren't straight

ta-da!

I usually wash my hair every other day now.  Sometimes I will go an extra day, but have to use baby powder or corn starch to soak up the oil, which does work beautifully.  Lately I've been using a small-ish round barrel curling iron to create all-over curls.  I wash my hair at night and allow it to air dry.  In the morning I brush it out and go to it with curling.  If, and only if, I need to better a part or something I will give it a shot from the blowdryer, but only to cure an awkward part.  I use no product at all, any product (incl. hairspray) ways my hair down and actually kills the style.  I will leave the curls untouched for 15-30 minutes while I finish my morning routine and then brush it out with my Mason Pearson brush (I only have the travel size 'cuz of the cost, but I sware I love it better than any brush I have ever used), then I just kind of tossle it with my fingers.  The key to this style is air drying without a blowdryer and not using product.  I have longish hair that is decently thick and drys very frizzy and slightly-awkwardly wavy.

Otherwise, I can just use a big round brush and blow it out either in the AM after a PM washing and air drying, or immediately after washing.  If I blow it out w/out air drying the style easily lasts three days on account of the hot air killing all the oil.  Occasionally, I use styling cream (Fresh brand) but I think I only use it because I have it and not because I have to, I think I like my hair better au' natural.

My hair is about shoulder length, wavy with a tendency to frizz if left unattended.  My morning routine is

  1. shampoo every other day, but I rinse and condition on the off days because I go the the gym in the morning

  2. divide hair into sections and apply phytodefrisant

  3. let my hair air dry for 10-15 minutes while i eat my cereal and watch GMA

  4. blowdry it with a diffuser until dry, usually about 7-8 minutes

My hair is thick, curly, frizzy, long, dry, and coarse so it requires a lot of love. Which is unfortunate, because I'm super lazy. I'm sure if I put more effort in it could look a lot better, but I'm just completely inept at beauty stuff. My routine...

1. Shampoo and condition with Pantene Sleek and Shine
2. Untangle with my fingers while washing out conditioner (I haven't used a brush or comb in years)
2. Towel dry
3. Disperse a big handful of conditioner through out my hair
4. Don't touch it til it drys

I've tried EVERYTHING from all prices ranges and all levels of difficulty and this is what works best for me.

I just wash my hair. If I need to go somewhere after I shower I blowdry my hair. When I wake up for school I don't even run a comb through my hair. My hair is pretty fine and straight so there is no need for it.

Bitch!

Haha, just kidding, but I used to look at girls with hair like yours in high school and be so envious because I just knew they were getting an extra half hour sleep in the morning because they didn't have to worry about their hair.

After reading your responses I think I should give up on the hair dryer. It always looks better air-dryed, but I guess I thought I *should* be blow-drying.

I wash my hair about every other day, sometimes every two days. I use a wide tooth comb after I wash it, then I spritz on John Frieda Ocean Waves and let it dry naturally. I never brush my hair (unless I blowdry it straight, which happens on very rare occasions).  Sometimes if my hair is misbehaving, I'll use a John Frieda Brilliant Brunette shine shock or whatever it's called.

Nyla - when you do this, is your hair at all frizzy?  Do you scrunch your hair after you put the Ocean Waves in?  I have naturally wavy hair, and I'm looking for something to enhance my waves, w/out making them crunchy.

Generally, no, I don't have a lot of frizz. If do, I use that shine shock crap. My hair is more on the curly side of wavy (if that makes sense), so I don't have to scrunch it at all to get it to curl and Ocean Waves doesn't really make my hair feel crunchy at all. Sorry if that wasn't helpful.

Thanks - that does help.  My hair is more on the curly side as well, just not super curly.  Anyhow, thanks, I'm going to try your method out.
