How often do you wash your hair?

i agree with you, that's gross. i've heard every 2-3 days, but since i work in a hospital and work out, i don't want to leave germs and sweat in my hair for a day or two so i wash mine everyday. plus, i don't have thick hair.

now, if i had my sister's thick hair which require mucho time to blow dry, i might do it every other day.

After I color my hair, I'll go 2-3 days without washing because I want the color to be preserved. Did she color it too? I wash my hair every other day normally but sometimes I'll go 2 days... Washing your hair everyday strips it of it's natural oils. It's not good for your hair.

ummm...i could easily go a week without washing my hair and it wouldn't get greasy. however, since it usually gets pretty sweaty from working out, i do wash it every 2 or 3 days. but if i don't work out for some reason, i see no reason to wash.

I wash my hair everyday or else it gets dirty, flat, and has that weird dirty hair smell. I have thin, fine hair if it makes any difference.

I don't wash mine every day, because I don't have to. I usually do it every other day.

As for your co-worker, it might be her type of hair. I have a friend who washes her's like once a week. She has such dry, thick hair, her hair never gets oily and it's more manageable this way...I don't think it's disgusting unless the girl's hair is a greasy mess.

I wash my hair every 2-3 days. It's such a PITA because my hair is sooooo thick though that it makes me want to scream.

Yeah - one of my friends has hair like this -

I used to wash my hair every day but since the "dirty hair project" (do you guys remember that?) I try not to do it more than every other day - it's just not good for hair - especially blonde and processed hair like mine - plus i like to blow it dry and doing that every day is not good either (although i suppose i have no excuse now - it hasn't been highlighted in months and i probably blow it dry twice a month now b/c i'm lazy)

i actually try to stretch out washings as much as i can for healthier hair - when i went brunette recently and then back to blonde, my hair was just so damaged it was terrible. i'm still trying to "nurse it back to health"

I have to wash it every day because it is thin/fine and oily.

I would LOOOVE to be able to wash it every 2-3 days, but that just will not ever happen.

I have to wash every day because I also have fine, oily hair. Sometimes I skip a day on the weekend but that's only if I'm not going anywhere except maybe the grocery store. I would KILL to not have to wash it every morning though, I hate the whole process of washing, then drying, then straightening!

I have fine, thin hair too, and if I skip a day, it IS disgusting. But I know people with curly hair especially, can go several days without washing. DH has curly hair and while I'd kill for some of his volume, his hair does get very dry, so he doesn't wash daily either. And it's not disgusting. Sometimes it's nicer because his hair feels a lot softer and is more manageable.

I MUST wash my hair everyday. It gets way too oily if I don't. Even if I go out after work at night I wash it again because it starts to get oily by like 7 at night. I hate it, such a pain..

Ditto. I have to wash my hair every day, otherwise it just looks really greasy and gross. Once I get past about 36 hours, it's noticably gross. Plus my hair gets all kinked up and really weird looking if I sleep on it and the only way to get the weirdness out is to wash it. Such a pain.

I have very thick hair, and it is very dry. I probably could go 4-5 days, but I usually wash every other day because on the third day it gets harder to style, not because it looks dirty at all. I have very little oil in my hair as it is, and washing it every day just makes it so dry. I think my hair feels best the day after I wash it, but the color is best on the day I wash it. MAYBE it would get oily after a 6 days or so, but not significantly enough that someone would think my hair looked dirty. Every once in a while, I'll skip a wash and just use conditioner.

Hey friends, if you went on a plan and started washing your hair every other day, it would eventually be less oily. Because you wash your hair every day, it does get gross when you don't wash it but if you started washing it every other day, it wouldn't. The dirty hair project many of us did is proof of that. I have very fine and thin hair but it's to the point now where I really can wash every other day and it still looks okay. hth

I go back and forth between washing everyday and every other day. It takes major willpower to skip a day 'cause for me washing my hair is one of the greatest pleasures. I love the feeling of my head being immersed in water!

Jen, what is the reason for that? Is it 'cause by cleaning our scalps they over-compensate and produce extra oil?

EVERY SINGLE DAY!! I swear if I wash it at 8 pm tonight then tomorrow by 7:30 pm my hair will start feeling and looking dirty! I hate it. But Fridays are the only days I dont wash it so I wash it Saturday morning then Sunday morning and again Sunday night so that it can last me to Monday night!!!
