Yasmin Update
Permalink Closed

Just thought I'd update my exprience on Yasmin, so far.  I've been on it for 3 weeks now.

My nausea has completely disappeared, thank goodness, as has the weird heart rate thing I posted about a couple weeks ago.

Pros
I've lost 2 lbs that I can't attribute to exercise, because I was feeling so crappy for awhile that I haven't been to the gym in almost the whole 3 weeks.

Cons
My skin is going apeshit - my forehead is now breaking out and I have a couple bigger cysts.  And I had just gotten it under control!

Also, by boobs are bigger and a bit tender, which is strange for me because this is a side effect I've not experienced on any other pill ever.

I've also had some definite moments of disproportionate anger, which FH has unfortunately had to bare the brunt of!

My eyesight is worse all of the sudden, which is giving me headaches.

Hmmm, that doesn't sound very good, does it?  If things continue as is, I think the side effects affect me enough that I would switch back to either Alesse or Seasonale, which I've had luck with in the past.  Unless they start making a pill that will make me lose weight, make my boobs bigger, and not make my skin break out ...... not making my a raving bitch would also be good !

*hugs*

Yasmin is responsible for making my previously normal, perfect full-Bs into monstrous C cups (and Ortho Tri Cyclen sealed the deal to make them bigger!).

I don't remember if you've tried this already, but I was best on OTC....my skin was almost totally cleared and I didn't go apeshit on my BF all the time.

Wow!  What an amazing thread!  Never thought of this kinda topic!

So I've been on Yasim since mid February - tried getting off the pill to lose weight - but my skin went *apeshit* as well - so I went to my new doc who prescribed Yasmin (for my skin).

Have to say in the past few days I have noticed my breasts are very tender/sore?  Thought it was from excercise but this is a new concept - never thought of it as a side effect. AND I HAVE been having eyesight problems - had my eyes checked and they are fine - but i feel like they're blurry all the time.  That I was blaming on stress and the computer.

Hmm. are the boobs bigger?  I think maybe a teeny tiny bit - im a small B. But Liliykind - do you mean going on OTC after Yasmin kept them bigger?  Because when i was on OTC - I didn't notice a difference at all.

I did have nausea with the original OTC and switched to Allesse which helped.

Yep. I've been off all BC for about a year now and they have never returned to the same pre-BC full B. Which would be nice and all (I think...) if I was trying to pick up guys, but I'm more interested in shopping for cute clothes.

I've been on Yasmin for a couple of years and so far, it's my favorite pill. But obviously everyone's different.

Your weight gain is probably because Yasmin often has a slight direutic (sorry, I can't spell) effect on people taking it, says my ob/gyn. When I first started taking it, I noticed I was peeing all the time.

OTC was actually the very first pill I was ever on - I call it the Gateway Pill because it's every doctors default choice when putting people on the pill.  I was so ill the entire time I was on it that I couldn't leave the house - literally throwing up 3 or 4 times a day for the entire 21 days of hormones.  It also did absolutely nothing for my skin, but even if it had, having clear skin doesn't mean so much when you can't leave the house anyway!

I think I'm going to continue to monitor the situation, and I'll probably do one more month on it to see if the side effects continue or if they lessen.  If they continue, I'll call the doc back and ask for a scrip for Seasonale or Alesse again.

Every BC pill I've tried has made my breasts bigger and I experience extreme breast tenderness/soreness.  I also get depression, depression related weight gain, bad skin, and moodiness.  I think it's about time the medical community came up with a good alternative to BC.  I have an IUD now, but the spotting, occasional cramping, and aching back is driving me batty.  BUT I haven't been moody, depressed, experienced a change in my skin, or had boob growth/tenderness, so I'm still on the fence.
