I am new and have been enjoying reading the posts for awhile. I notice that a few of you wear alot of anthropologie stuff. I think there is something wrong with me. I have been in there several times and just am always disappointed at the items I look at. I see them on the website and think "how lovely" and then when I see them in person it just doesn't measure up to the price. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Yes. The clothes can be disappointing because in the catalogs they are shown with such flare, that when I get a single item it's kinda a let down as it doesn't have the vibe the outfit did. Sometimes I feel like they have flimsy stuff too. But what keeps me going back and back and back are the vintagey looks, great details, and uniqueness of the styles.
Welcome! And there's nothing wrong with you if you like the idea of Anthro but it doesn't translate for your personal style in reality.
yup. I find that you have to go with an open mind. I usually end up hatign the stuff that i liked on the site and loving the things that I hated or didn't even notice.
The first few times I went into Anthro I couldn't get into anything at all. Even now, I have a lot of trouble fitting into the stuff because I feel many of the brands don't cut their clothes with enough space in the chest to accomodate anyone over a B-cup. The average cup size in the US is a 36C...there's no excuse for this anymore. Also the pants are mostly for girls with straighter figures.
I do like the store and will always go in because I can score some finds, especially on the sale racks. The aesthetic is definitely appealing and the store does look like a place you'd want to spend time in.
However, I am wary of quality on a lot of the items. Often I see unfinished seams unraveling, details secured on poorly, and details looking unimpressive IRL.
What Lilykind said. I couldn't have summed it up any better. I'm a curvy girl with a booty and C-cups, and it's hard to get Anthro stuff to fit me. Most everything seems to be cut for non-curvy figures.
I go there fairly regularly though, because it's a great store and I like the decor...and when I do find something that works, it's like an extra bonus. *s*

I think a lot of their stuff is way over-priced for the quality. You can find similiar stuff for much cheaper. That being said, they do have a lot of unique looking stuff and if you find the right piece it can really be amazing. It's not the kinda place I'd buy the majority of my clothes from, but they do have some really cute stuff.
I feel the same way you do. I have a couple of items from Anthro, and I don't feel like any of them are especially good quality or fit me very well. But I think I have pretty crappy stores here, because the other girls find some great stuff! It's just a 'to each her own' thing.

I've really grown to love Anthro in the past couple of years and seem to find a lot of cute and unique stuff there, even though I'm a size 12/14. But yes, some of their stuff is flimsy and not worth the price. It definitely is hit or miss.
I think what I like most about Anthro is the fact that they carry a lot of brands you might not find anywhere else in the country, so even if you dress head to toe in Anthro you still have an eclectic mix of clothes that may all be different brands from different countries.
I definitely feel the same way. I have a few items from there, but for the most part it is just over priced in my opinion. I try to catch the things I like on sale. One thing I can say is I didn't use to like them at all and now they have grown on me. I think it took me seeing their clothes on other people and how cute they can be before I really started liking them.
Welcome!!

welcome! there are some girls on here who aren't big anthro shoppers. i think we're kind of a silent minority. but as halleybird said "to each her own." you'll find that there are lots of girls with different styles on here, but everyone is very friendly and nice. i would encourage you to post your non-anthro finds.
i walk into an anthro store and love everything, but i totally agree that it is overpriced. i mostly will only buy stuff there on sale. (i have found some really great things that have become wardrobe staples on sale there.) i think it's the kind of place that you need to shop frequently (if your location permits) to find great stuff on sale.
i look at their site to get an idea of what they have, and then always go to the store to buy. i've found that sometimes stuff that's full price on the web is on sale in the store.
and while i absolutely love the way they put stuff together and think everything on the rack in there looks amazing and cute, i can never seem to integrate much of it into my wardrobe. it's a little too girly for my style right now.
I agree with everyone else. I love studying the catalog and get so inspired to go to the store to see it all. Once I get there, I cannot believe how cheap some if it looks in real life.
But it can go the other way as well! I have tried on items suggested by the salesgirls, that I would NEVER have thought would look good on me, and it fits like it was made just for me.
Definitely watch the sale racks, try it on, and remember its not the end all :)
