I am having major issues! Help!
Permalink Closed

Okay, please help me figure out what to wear to my friend's wedding this weekend.  I know I've asked a bunch of times, but here's the deal.  I got this Mary Francis bag to wear with my dress and while it's gorgeous and I really really like it, I'm having major shopping guilt.  So help!

Here are my four options

#1:

  (Cost: $178)

#2:

 With Anthro purse (Cost: none)

#3

BR skirt w/ black top, Hobo Int'l clutch (Cost: free)

#4

BR skirt w/ burgundy cami, brown pashmina not pictured, Hobo Int'l clutch (Cost:  free)

What's a girl to do???  If I went with options #2-4, I'd probably return the purse.

This may not be what you want to hear, but #1 looks so fabulous on you, I think you have to wear it!

Is there anyway you could find a cheaper purse similiar to that one?

I know this is not what you were hoping to hear, but #1 far and away looks better than the others. I think the bag really ties everything together and elevates the look.

If you really feel guilty about the bag to the point at which you can't sleep at night, then #2 is my second choice.

I say go with #2.  The bag is awesome, but, unless you're planning on carrying it with you all night, than it won't matter that much.  I am usually busy catching up with everyone and dancing and end up not even using my bag at all, other than while walking in!

But, then again, if you can afford it, that bag is a one of a kind and I'm sure you'll be glad you have it.

What time is the wedding (I can't remember at all)?  I love #1 but if this is the only time you will use the bag then go with #2.

BTW I love that dress.  Where is it from (who is it by??)??

The wedding is at 5 at a church, followed by a reception at a nearby country club and then back to a hotel suite to party.  If I keep the Mary Frances, then I will be "that girl" who doesn't put it down all night because I will just feel oh-so-fabulous with it.

Also, I have a wedding in Jamaica in June and I'm wearing the same dress (different group of friends) and I'd bring that purse with me for that wedding as well.

And bonus--the bag holds my digital camera which is a few years old and rather large.  So by keeping the bag, I don't have to buy a new digi-cam.    (That's what I've been telling DH.  )

And Aurora, the dress is by Maggy London and I got in online from Nordie's.  I'm REALLY pleased with it and the price was right.

I thought I saw it on there the other day!!!  I love that dress and have been thinking about it for a wedding I have coming up in june.  I think its a night wedding too so it might be perfect.  Hmm must lose a few pounds then i'll order it.  I'll have to pm you about it later.

Since you have 2 occasions and it holds your digital camera (I have a huge one too so I know the pain you face) i say keep the bag as a treat and you'll probably wear it more than you think.

I say keep it, but make sure you get a lot of use out of it in the months/years ahead. It looks like it would go with a lot. You look great, btw!

#1 is absolutely stunning - I feel guilty about talking you into the bag, but it really really is gorgeous!

#1. If you must, ebay the bag after wedding season. It's fabulous! And as cute as the BR skirt is, you are NOT wearing it to a wedding- how many opportunities do you have to dress up?!

Oh damn! You ARE having issues, aren't you?? Poor thing!

I hate to be the voice of dissent...but I am not overwhelmed with the MF bag. I think it works the best for pulling your look together, but IRL what will your cost per wear (or carry LOL) be? I think it's too high. Is there nothing in all of Raleigh that will work for what you want, but less costly?

I have to agree with beachgirl - usually I am not carrying my clutch at all except for walking in / walking out. So it's a lot of money for something that you won't even have on you all night...

What about some of these?

not sure any of the colors are right, but you'd be able to buy them *and* a new digicam...

I went through my own stash of clutches, but I don't have anything that's quite right with those colors. :(

BTW that BR skirt is FAB! Is it relatively new??

I have to disagree again. Sorry!!! I think the MF bag would be fab for going out- nice jeans, simple black top, that bag as the focus... HOT!!! Especially if it fits your camera....

seriously, carry the darn thing and ebay it to me.

Oooh!  I like the idea of eBaying it if I decide not to keep it after the wedding.  I'll keep you in mind if I decide to do that, ILC!

Atlgirl--I would try to order something else online, but I'm running out of time.  I'd have to order something tomorrow and get it by Friday afternoon, which is cutting it pretty close.   I've looked all over Raleigh and have had a really hard time finding anything in person.

I'm think if I do decide to keep it, I'll make it one of those "challenge" pieces and find a way to work it in to a bunch of stuff in order to decrease the CPW.

The jury's still out, but you ladies may be convincing me.  I'm going to sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning.

That purse looks great with the dress.  If you have the money to buy it you should not feel guilty.  Every girl deserves to treat herself!

I so love #1 and the Mary Frances bag is something you will use and treasure forever.

I've worn mine to weddings, dinners, & with jeans and it always gets notices.  They really are limited editions and I don't think you will ever be sorry to have it in your closet.

Your dress looks great on BTW.

I voted #1, but only if you will use the bag again (it can be another outfit challenge!).  You can totally use that bag with other outfits, like Marg suggested.

Love the dress and the bag...I also think you could work that bag into a number of outfits casual or dressy...

I'll be standing in line too when/if you eBay that bag!!

Also, I totally agree with ILC - in the summer especially, I love the look of a really simple outfit with a unique clutch.  I do it all the time.  And, if you want to keep it, you will get a lifetime of use out of it because it will never go out of style.
