Anyone have it or know someone who did? I'm having it done this year and am in the beginning process of finding a surgeon. Just wondering if anyone had any advice or certain questions I should ask? TIA.

Collette, seriously?    I have seen your picture, you are stunning!

If its not too personal, can I ask why and what do you want to do?

You guys are all really sweet! But.... I've always hated my nose. It's a very prominent Italian nose with a nice bit of my mother Polish bulb on the end. I'm very very self conscious of it. I was teased relentlessly because of it as a child and I guess I never really got over it. Honestly I don't want to change it all that much. I'd like my tip a bit more refined and my bridge thinned out. I've had my nose broken 3 times and never had it set properly. I still want my nose just a bit smaller to fit my face more. Thanks for your kind words ladies!

Collette, I don't know if you're still looking for a surgeon, but I have a recommendation for you. I'm looking to get rhinoplasty this year also and I've heard fantastic things about Dr. Dean Toriumi in Chicago. He was rated one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world by W Magazine. If you're still looking for a surgeon, you may want to see him for a consultation.

This is eerie- because I could of wrote this myself!! I am also of italian heritage with the same distinctive nose, had my nose broken three times while  playing sports in high school, and had a nose job at sixteen. I convinced my parents at this age that I would always feel ugly and uncomfortable if I had to live my life with such a nose. My parents at least relented to a consultation. Come to find out I could not breath out of one side of my nose- or very minimally, because of all the scar tissue that had accumulated due to the breaks- so, surgery was a medical necessity. Good for my teenage vanity- but, also bad : because it resulted in being a bit of a traumatic experience- although, now I am happy that I did it, being that it is twenty two years later.  I had problems, both during the surgery, and after.( Let me just note: I am sure that the problems that I had were due to plastic surgeries being new, and unrefined- and none of these things would be something you would have to worry about.  In twenty two years plastic surgery has become much more advanced. ) So, the Dr had to break my cheekbones in order to do the surgery, and in surgery, he found the damage in the nostrils more extensive than he previously had thought-so, took much longer than expected. The face is such a fragile part of the body, any swelling is very painful and believe me when I say that I looked like I got hit by a Mack truck!! I had excessive bleeding after surgery, so they had to put this clamp-like contraption on my face ( kind of wrapped around my head like head gear from braces and came around and clamped around my nose.) My first week recovering was a fog of pain medication, sleep, and liquids- and I could remember my sister bringing in a few of her friends to look at me . I could hear them suck in breath just to look at me: all bruised, swollen, and with that frankenstein contraption clamped on my face. Well, the swelling started to go down, bruising to get better- but, I had to go back to the Drs to remove clamp, and a basic check on recovery. A little into the checkup the dr says he is going to remove the gauze???? What??? So, he takes a tweezer and starts tugging out this gauze that is so packed into my nose-it is resistent to come out because the blood, remember the blood, has dried into my head-oh the pain. This is my nose job experience- the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Thanks for sharing your story lilyann! I'm definitely a bit afraid of undergoing the procedure but I've hated my nose forever. And I figure that at this age (24), I should either learn to love it and stop contemplating rhinoplasty, or just go ahead and get the surgery. And since learning to love it has been futile, I think surgery is the better option.
