anthro girls... I need your help
Permalink Closed

I need your help.  My husband is taking me shopping in a couple of weeks to anthropologie (3.5 hours away)  I have only been in anthro once and it was just to return something I ordered online.  I didn't have time to look around.  I have about $500 (extra and unexpected) to spend.  What would you buy from there?  I am kind of wanting to round out my summer work wardrobe but would like to get more than a couple of outfits.  If I could get 3 outfits that would be great.  I had been contemplating spending it at various places and I still may get pants from Target/Gap/Express, but I am thinking I may just drop it all at anthro.  I can wear pretty much anything to work as long it is not too revealing.  Pleeeeeeeeeeease help me with ideas.

my suggestion is to do pants from Target/Gap/etc since those tend to be more plain. Save Anthro for cute tops and skirts.

outfit 1:

distraction top$78 with some tan chino type pants (probably from Gap?)

outfit #2:

bise bise blouse$48

terrace skirt$78

outfit #3:

persimmon dress$188 (not necessarily this one if you did the red skirt too, but I lvoe Anthro for dresses and find they have a wider selection in the stores)

happy-go-lucky belt$48

funny you should mention anthro. i haven't gone there in a while and i was just at the one in new york a few weeks ago and got some REALLY great stuff. they had a ton of stuff on sale and I racked up. i picked up some things that weren't on the website, a great denim skirt (can't go wrong with that) and a sexy little summer babydoll dress.  the salesgirl said the dress i got was a return from a long time ago. . . love it.  i am not sure about your skin tone/personal style but these were the things i got. . .and oddly enough they were to round out my work wardrobe. . .hmm

i got this sweater/vest to wear over tanks paper thin long sleeve tees to work. i always get cold in the summertime because they have the air conditioning so high at work.  i have some great marc jacobs khaki pants and a cute pale blue bcbg dress i just got from saks as other options.  meanwhile i can always wear this with a jeans and a white tank right now. . .

mahjong sweater vest

i just got some pretty spahghetti strap summer dresses from forever 21/bcbg/mark jacobs.  this camel colored sweater can go over all of them and matches my wedge heels for an easy work look. plus the fit is kinda sexy librarian not plain jane simple.  of course jeans or one of my pencil skirts is another option.

visionary cardigan

i loved this skirt. it fits really well. i have a great white buton down shirt from bannan and a wide camel brown leather belt and sky high camel brown leather peep toe loubatain shoes (you know the ones everyone is knocking off right now) soooooooo cute

buttondown skirt

also not for work but i love it as an evening coat. . .trenchy thing. . .oh hell i just loved it so i had to have it. . .

belleville trench

i got this to wear under a heather gray bcbg suit i just got. . .so sweet with the puff sleeve and all. . .

arboretum blouse

this with my khaki shorts from theory and wedge heels the print is kinda old lady 70's and the fit is great.  i'll wear it to work with my white pencil skirt and choclate brown flats and coral jewlery and choclate brown kooba seinna.

sunshine coast blouse

I totally agree with ILC about mixing cute anthro tops and skirts with basics from the gap, old navy etc...

When I go to anthro, I focus on things that are special, to perk up a pair of khakis or a plain top.  I love everyone's suggestions and outfit ideas - just be sure to check the sale section, I always find great deals!

Thanks so much everybody. This helps me tremendously.   I am definitely going to go straight to the sale section first.  I will post what I buy.
