I am going to Forever 21 for the first time in my life in a couple of weeks.  Do they have more or different dresses in the store than they have online?  Also, what is the vibe of the store like?  Is it organized, quiet and neat or loud and messy?

Expect much more than what's on the website. One of the ones near me is HUGE and I always find great things.

BUT, it is loud and crazy and disorganized. If you like to pick through things, then this is your store. I don't know if this is a national rule, but the 3 stores near me only let you bring 6 things in the dressing room, which bothers me.

mine doesn't have that much more than what's on the site, or if it does it's not notable stuff. Also, it doesn't have a lot of things that are on the site - I always check out websites before I go to stores, especially f21 because everything fits weird there and I know I'll have to try it on...but the things I like that I find online are never there when I get there! It's kind of disorganized...it's hard to find what you want and, at least in mine, when you do find it it's tangled up with all the other hangers that were squished into one rack.

the clothes are cute! but anything I get in there I consider relatively disposable after a few wears

The first two words that come to mind..

Disposable... and disorganized..

I just can't shop there.

Sometimes I wish I could.. I know lots of STers find great things!

Thanks.  I am sure they probably have lots of stuff but I cannot stand disorganized.  I hear about all the great deals people get at TJMaxx, and I have actually gone in there planning to spend time looking but I feel like I am going to hyperventilate after about 10 minutes.  I may just take a spin through f21  but I probably won't last long.

if you do go to f21 try not to go on the weekend or on a friday evening.  i've been going to f21 for years and it seems to be neater and much less busy during the week.  the store can be overwhelming though. . .sooooooo much stuff.  try focusing on one or two things, like this first trip only look at dresses and skirts.  that way you can hone in on a section and not be to overwhelmed by all the options.  the three where i live always have a ton more then is on the site. . .

like everyone says the prices are so low that a few times of wearing the stuff and you feel good about it.   and if you mix them in with designer stuff/higher end stuff no one ever knows . . .hee hee hee

by the way some of my f21 "disposable" items have ended up sticking around in my wardrobe for YEARS and they still look good.  the trick is to not to wear them to often.  i have some great chiffon tanks and skirts that i got about five years ago that i wear only three or four times a season and they still look as good as new.

good luck and have fun it is a great place to blow some cash and not feel bad about it.  :)

Exactly what she said.

The store has a ton of stuff - the one in SF is three stories. It is a total chaotic nightmare though, IMO.

I have only recently started shopping at F21 again after a personal ban of sorts for 2 years.

I think it's best to go.

  • on a lunch hour

  • right after work on a weekday (except Friday night)

  • Satuday morning before 11:30 AM

Those are the times when the store is still somewhat organized. The selection in some stores can be really overwhleming. If you go in with a plan (like you want to find some tailored shorts), then it's a lot easier to sift through things.

Some of the natural fiber stuff can last a decently long time, but in general, I don't expect much from F21 stuff.

I also think the quality has gone up a bit in recent years (so have the prices). I remember when I was in college, NOTHING was over $20. Now, it's more like nothing is over $40.

I usually go first thing on Saturday mornings - like at 10:00. Otherwise, the lines for the fitting rooms get outrageous and I'm not going to wait in line just to try something on.

I agree. I will ONLY go first thing in the morning, right when they open. Things are still folded and displayed nicely, and no lines for the fitting rooms. After that... complete and utter chaos!

But you can absolutely find great things there!

The day I go will be a Tuesday so I hope that it will be pretty organized.  If it is not, I won't be able to stay--I wish I liked sifting through things because I know you can find alot of good deals, but I get so frustrated.
