Appropriate for a Boat Cruise?
Permalink Closed

So as part of our law school graduation events, we have an evening boat cruise on the Chicago river. I just bought this blouse and would love to wear it. I was thinking of dark jeans and heels. But am wondering if it's too dark and "evening-wear"ish for the occasion. Does a boat cruise call for a lighter, more summery clothes? If so, any suggestions of a cute, summery top that is under $50? Thanks in advance!

Last time I did a boat cruise on the Chicago river I just wore black capri's and a tank top. I think this blouse is great maybe pair it with a pair of white capris? Also bring a cover up of some kind it gets really cold on the river at night! Have fun!

I love the idea of white capris-- unfortunately I'm only 5'2 and capris make me look like so stumpy :(

Love, love the shirt. Black or khaki capris may not may you look "stumpy" although I'm 4'11 and I wear capris all the time. I just try to keep my outift tailored and well-fitted, no baggy pants or tops-and always w/some sort of heel for lengthening. It may work with some cute wedges...

Because it's an evening cruise, I think that top would work just fine. I agree with Collette about trying white on the bottom - they can be regular white pants instead of capris if you don't like those. Or a pair of jeans that aren't too dark, for a better contrast with the top.

And I'd add some fun earrings:

Here's a unique, fun bracelet:

Thanks for the advice everyone! I have a very hourglass figure and I always feel so self-conscious in capris and light colored pants. I feel like they put a big spotlight on my hips and thighs. That's why I am hesitant about pairing the top with white pants or capris even though I'm sure that would be the cutest. I think jeans and the top will be most comfortable paired with cute accessories. I love that Anthro cuff-- why must it be $498????

oops, sorry girls! Honestly I ran across it, thought it was cute, and didn't even look at the price! $500 is ridiculous!
