Please be honest: Can i wear leggings these ways?
Permalink Closed

I wanted to try the leggings alone...I don't know why I like this, but I do. However, I am not sure what others will think if I wear this out the door? You know...in a way I keep wondering if people will be saying "dude, that girl totally forgot half her outfit." I would never wear the leggings without at least one tailored piece of clothing like a jacket to anchor the look.

I also am so scared of looking like a fatso in a miniskirt, mostly because my legs are really muscular....but I love minis. I love minis with leggings underneath too.

Please be honest. Thanks!

The first one isn't actually so bad, kinda cool really but it's different to see it through the laptop than it is to see irl. The second one, I'm not so fond of... the miniskirt adds too many different layering look to it; not great. Sorry.

Are the leggings sheer at all? It kinda looks like it in the post. If they're not, I say go with the first option.

first of all, you are fabulous and nowhere near "fatso" realm.

For me, both of them are really close, but something is off. I think the first one might need a longer or a looser layer somewhere in there. I can't figure out what's missing for me in the second one. It might be the cut/wash of the skirt, like it's a little dressy? Maybe someone else can help me out.

I do really love the color and prints combo.

What about taking out that one gray layer? I think the leggings would look better right up against a bold color.

i think option 1 looks great...really different and cute..and like the others said...just make sure its not sheer.  and maybe the top can be a tad bit longer...?

option 2 has got way too many layers

Oooh I really like Number 1... I didn't even realize those were leggings! So yes, looks like you pulled it off really well!

I agree w/ the others.. 2 many layers on the 2nd outfit. I'd say experiment w/ another top and keep it to 3 pieces total...

Let us see some more ideas!

I've been trying to sort out this look myself, so I don't really have any advice, but I just wanted to say those leggings are so cute! Also, I might be crazy, but I think they might look cute with those flats from French Connection. Did you ever get them?

you asked for honesty....

i'm really not a fan of either. i think part of it has to do with having worn leggings the first/second time around. everytime i see leggings like that i'm whisked off to 4-7th grades, when express was a psuedo french store, and you could get print leggings and matching ribbed tunic tops. so off the bat i'm biased. i have seen the first look on other girls, and imho it really does look like they're missing the rest of their outfit. but that's just me.

the second look has way too much going on. if you're concerned about the size of  your legs (fyi ita with halleybird you are not a fatso!) it'd be better to stick with a solid color legging under the mini, since a print is just going to call attention to that area.

of late, leggings are starting to grow on me. i think it's just after having been inundated with the look for so long that i've just realized it's futile to try and resist.  i think the leggings would look really cute peeking out from underneath a dress paired with either flats or heels.  here are some things from anthro that would work, and the outfit would still be kind of funky since you're pairing a sort of frou-frou dress with camo leggings

I think it is a sign of your genius that you come up with these difficult questions.

You are not anything approaching fat.

Okay. Now, on to the question at hand! I like Option 1 better than Option 2. I love the polka dots with the camo. I don't love the shoes, and I would maybe add another colored shirt in place of the gray/green shirt. Maybe the burgundy shirt and a yellow or pink? Not sure. Then I would maybe pick up that color in a pair of brightly-colored flats. Options:

Hollywould Ankle Tie BalletOh, how I these.

Irregular Choice Mars Attack 3082-3 DPointy would probably be better.

Jelly SandalsI'm so getting in trouble for posting jellies. There are no pointy flats in bright colors anywhere, I swear!

I love the first one. I'm not too crazy about the second one.

I agree with honey and think it would be much cuter with a dress over them. Or a much longer fitted shirt, then a cute jacket over...

I agree with everything honey said. I think leggings look cutest under dresses or under tops that are tunic-length with a pair of ballet flats.

I like the first look. I don't think it looks like you're missing part of your outfit. If you were wearing a solid color legging, I might think so but with the fancy camo print I think you're safe.

I'm not terribly fond of the second look. I don't think you look fatso at all in minis! But I don't dig the combo there.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt because I'm not a fan of leggings and I don't plan on wearing them. I've seen people look cute in them and I've seen people look scary in them. I think you look cute though.

Me too. I think the leggings would look cuter if paired with a dress. Also, you are definitely NOT fat.
