ok - this is the photographer and we will be shooting at my home and at Cranbrook on Monday (going to be a craaaazy day for me...)
I am thinking of wearing a dress over jeans...
what do you guys think of this outfit (inspired by collette!)
and JS shoes? and owl necklace?
OR
a big pearl rope lariat (wrapped around my neck twice and tied) and lacroix blue/purple irredescent pumps, blue suede louboutin pumps (can't find picture - some of you know what they look like), or dsquared shoes
any other dress suggestions are appreciated! also shoe suggestions from what I have appreciated as well! TIA!!!

Oh my god! You're taking pics at Cranbrook too? How cool. Ok, this may be too much, but do you think you could wear two different outfits?
I'm thinking something polished while you are at home (will he take pics while you are "working" at your desk/computer?) and then a fun outfit like the dress over jeans at Cranbrook (outside?).
Ok, I am asking more questions than I am answering
i like the first outfit. this is cheesy, but i think the owl and the JS shoes represent you, but also the stylethread community. we love our owls and JS pumps!
you'll look great whatever you choose, and it looks like you're in good hands with that photographer.

cranbrook is across the street from me - and there's a lot of cool spots. I don't like my home office (it's ok - it's just not ideal) and I'm also considering a spot in my living room (honestly, that's where I do most of my work on the site) - the LR spot has camel wall, a huge old chipped green paint house column, bronze/glass table, oriental lamp, and overstuffed chair... I was thinking jeans might work... I suppose I could put on what I'm wearing to my "meeting" afterward (see other outfit help post)
also - think I'm going to hot roller the hair... (see armani suit TS posts for me with curly hair)

see! that's what I was thinking - I want to "represent" and I want to be me as well...

i like the outfit, it sounds really cute. i personally would go with either the lacroix or the blue suede louboutin pumps. to me they're more unique than the js ones.

ITA w/shopgirl. You must wear that owl necklace! good luck and I can't wait to see the pics!
IMO the dress over the jeans thing is too young and of many seasons past...I would stick with the just dress, with a cute top peeking under it??? Something funky, but a little more sophisticated...

i like the dsquared ones too...and i see what you're saying about the chunky heel.
i guess i should say my vote is for any shoe other than the js. i don't really have anything against them, but i feel like it'd be better to wear something that is not so easily linked to a specific moment in fashion history.
you need to wear the owl necklace! It's so much more unique than the pearls...
can you take a pic of the dress with jeans? I can't picture how they would look together, but I tried the dress on at Anthro and didn't get it cause it looked like a lab coat on me. I'm a little worried that with the jeans it would even more...

I haven't bought it - but I was going on collette's word that it looked great with jeans (I don't agree that it's too young or "out" - yes - the look has been around for a while, but it seems to only be getting stronger...) any other dress suggestions are welcome! I'm feeling most comfortable with a dress over jeans look - plus I thought the white was timeless...
I've got to go shopping tomorrow - so please, be creative in your suggestions!

Hmmm, what about swapping out the sash on that dress for something more distinctive? Or maybe using a wide belt instead?
I was thinking the same thing... I do have a leopard pattern long scarf sash that would look good with the d squared shoes too -but then I'm thinking I would have to skip a necklace - it would just be too much IMO... unless it was a simpler wide belt... perhaps a wide silver belt? again, please post any and all suggestions!

what about a wide brown leather belt with a simple buckle? That might go well with the owl too.

i think you need to keep the necklace. i think it's so you, plus, i feel like you do such a good job of mixing vintage pieces with more modern pieces, so i can't imagine any outfit without something that's vintage.
