Cat Owners - Littermaid
Permalink Closed

Does anyone have an automatic/self cleaning litter box? I'm looking in to getting one since I'll soon have to cats and don't want to deal with a yucky smelly litter box. I was just wondering if it's convenient for you as a cat owner. Also, the dimensions are kind of small even on the biggest Littermaids, does your cat do OK with that? TIA

I don't have one, but I have discovered the BEST thing ever - its called StinkFree. You spray it on the bottom before you add litter and then everytime you clean it (I do it daily) you spray it on top of the litter after you remove the clumps. Its amazing! I also have an Oreck air purifier that i use religiously. I have two cats and everyone comments that they hav no idea that I have any b/c my place doesn't have that "cat smell" at all. And, my place is really really small, so if it smelled someone would notice. I get Stink Free from www.drsfostersmith.com or you can get it at http://www.stinkfree.com/index.html

Good luck!

We have one.  It's nicer in that we don't have to clean out the litterbox every day.  It's about every 3 days or so, but it's the only litterbox our cats will use, so that's probably why we have to change it more often.  I haven't noticed any smell issues, but it is in our basement, away from everything.

Our 17-lb cat uses the large one with no issues.

Overall, we've been pleased.

My parents have one and they really like it. Once in a while you can find a rebate for them too.

I was wondering about those.  What if a cat just used it and so the urine hasn't clumped up hard and breaks apart and leaves little smelly crumbs?  I forgot what the litter I was using, it had the crystals in it but it did not clump and made the litter box reek of pneumonia.  I changed to Tidy Cats scoop -small spaces crumble-free performance with power pieces to neautralize ordor on contact.  Good stuff.

Here is something hilarious.  When I totally change out the litter box my cat just loves it!  She will roll around in the box like a sand box or something!
