the rings I was attracted to before I got engaged were nothing like the one I got. I was picking out very art-decoish things, because I was in that phase at the time. The one my husband picked out for me is much more "me."

I could have written this myself. I never considered rings like mine but now I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything else.
that picture's not the best, but it's sort of like this one, only the diamonds in the band are more of a true channel set than in this picture -
This was the closest thing I could find to what mine looks like. The side stones on mine look a little different. I love my ring and wouldn't have picked anything different even if I had picked it myself.

This is mine. Hubby picked it out and it wasn't what I thought I would want, but he knows me better than I know myself because I love it! Please excuse the non manicured hands and stubby fingers

Valenciana, your ring is practically idential to mine. really it IS the same. i won't even post a picture....picture valenciana's hand w/shorter stubby finers(in pix my hands looks like midget hands, honestly it's strange) and chipped nail polish. I love the channel setting.
my experience was the same as some others posted - i always thought i wanted a really off-beat vintage ring/setting, but my husband must have known me better because what he picked out for me - the traditional round in 6-prong platinum setting - is perfect. i picked out the band myself - it's really thin with 7 tiny round cut diamonds set in.
