ok so one of my friends let me borrow this beautiful camel brown leather belt that's about two inches thick w/ a big silver buckle, and i'm wondering what to wear it with? any cool outfit ideas? tia!
What kind of buckle are we talking about? I was going to suggest some wearing the belt at your waist ideas, but then I thought...if it is a western style buckle it would look funny that way.
totally normal buckle, not western at all, just a simple silver buckle. it would look great at the waist but i don't know what to wear underneath. a white button down shirt maybe? ugh...feeling kinda uninspired, help!
i like the idea of a button down. which is a look i've done in the past. i also think it would look cute with a cardigan, something with short sleeves.
i also like the look with a drapey cardigan like these
and using a belt to play with the look a bit. you could wear it with a plain tee and a skirt, or pair it with a blousier top
depending on how simple the styling of the belt is, it might look really good paired with a tuxedo style shirt, or something else with ruffles in the front. this is a look i've been meaning to try, but i'm lazy. though i think it has potential.
I have worn my thick brown belt over a white button down. I have also worn it over a long sleeve v-neck shirt with a cardigan. I usually leave the cardigan a bit open and just put the belt over it all. I find that the cardigan usually has to have a sort of v-neck too in order for it to look right (it it can't really be gathered at the bottom). My favorite way of wearing a belt though is over dresses or tunic style tops. I have the APC crochet dress which I wear my belt over. I can't paste the picture becuase my office computer doesn't let me onto the site. Another option is to wear a belt over a dress that is already gathered like this one.
Or you can wear it to cinch a larger dress or tunic top that doesn't have shape on its own. Like this one. I have found that when wearing belts with dresses you have to wear them higher than the natural waist more under the boobs. Hope this gives you some ideas...
