Thoughts on some things I'm considering...
Permalink Closed

I've been saving money to go visit some friends in London, but it's not coming together so I have an extra $500 and I want to go shopping. Plus I also just got more hours at work.

I'm going to be in Sri Lanka and Cairo for most of next year, and I want to buy things I can wear in both of those places, but also at home this summer. I dressed horribly when I was in India and it bothered me the whole time. I figure if I'm going somewhere for a year, I might as well buy decent clothes. So anyway, that's why these are all pretty conservative.

(these have a cool tie on the back)
(these are linen)
(my friend told me this is tacky?)

Also, all of this stuff is ridiculously boring, but I'm really drawn to it. I'm getting bland in my old age.

Thoughts? What should I get? Suggestions of better stuff?

I really like this shirt.

The necklace is beautiful too. While a lot of those clothes aren't necessarily "stand out" pieces, I think they're perfect for taking to other countries where fashion is very different than here. They'll be very easy to mix and match, the only concern I have is the linen pants which may wrinkle very easily.

i like everything but the blue linen-y anthro pants.. i work there and i'm really just not a fan of them.. they almost look like they are trying to be denim, but not? i don't know. in the store there are TONS of great light weight linen and non/linen pants though, way more than on the site, and i am planning on getting a few pairs for my trip to India next december.

also, i'd pass on the necklace, simply b/c the jewelry shopping in India is amazing so you could probably find something similar there and for much cheaper!

i would also invest in some nice cotton short and 3/4 sleeve tees... the plain urban ones or velvet or rebecca beeson, etc.

I'd also pass on the jewelry because i think you'd find amazing pieces there. My mom came back from India w/ beautiful stones for relatively cheap and made her own necklace.

I love all of your picks. They look so classic and versatile. I think linen would be great for hot climates and I personally don't mind if it wrinkles - linen is supposed to look casual, after all.

I love these pants!

All your pics are great, IMO.  I can see them all being mixed and matched in a very Katherine Hepburn sort of way.
