Cereal diets?

I would like to lose between 5 and 10lbs and was considering doing a cereal diet (like the special k one) and was just wondering if anybody had done one before?

I've never done one but I can't see how they can be healthy?

I lost a lot of weight eating cereal twice a day earlier this year. But that's cause I was depressed and wasn't eating. A bowl of cereal is like 200 calories so if you replace two meals a day with it you will defintely lose weight. Probably not the healthiest thing though. I didn't feel too good because you're not getting any protein or vitamins or anything.

I can't imagine that this is a good way to maintain weight.  It just seems totally unrealistic.  It's probably good for a quick fix, but as soon as you go back to eating normal meals, you'll gain the weight back.  I think a moderate diet and exercize are a much healthier and lasting way to keep the weight off.

My mom did the cereal diet a while back, in conjuction with cutting out sweets (cookies, candy, etc.) I think she ate a bowl of Special K for breakfast and supper and ate a normal lunch. She lost 10 pounds in about 3 weeks and has managed to keep it off for several months.
