how long can you be bloated before you have to start wondering if your not bloated and just gaining weight like crazy?  i have been feeling "bloated"for the past 4 weeks and i am sitting at work today drinking my diet rootbeer and eating my sugar free butterscotch pudding and feeling even more bloated and thinking i have to be just getting fat.  so how long is bloated, bloated?

Have you increased your intake of sugar free products in the past four weeks?  Sugar substitutes always make my stomach upset and bloated.

Alot of sugar free products tend to be high in sodium, which can definitely make you bloated.  I'd try replacing all sodas/juices with water for a couple days, and try to stay away from anything prepackaged or processed and see if that helps.

Here are some things you might be eating that will make you bloated, these all definitely make me bloated:

*high sodium food - i.e. frozen meals, soups, etc.

*sugar-free foods/drinks (for me esp. Splenda)

Also if you recently increased the amount of fiber in your diet, that can cause bloating until you've gotten used to it.

i have definatly increased the sugar free items in my diet, since i am not eating any more sugar.  and i take tv dinners for lunch everyday.  but i have been taking tv dinners for lunch for a long time though.  i am hooked on the stoffer's macaroni and cheese.  that could be my problem.  but i figured that after 4 weeks, it might have calmed down a little bit.  for a minute i thought i might have IBS with constapation.  i saw a commercial for it and all the symptoms fit, but then i talked myself out of it.  i don't want to be a hypocondriac(sp?)

You know, I have been feeling the same way for awhile. It's really annoying. But it's not all the time that I feel bloated, but it's a lot more than what I've noticed before. Sometimes my stomach is really grumbly with the bloating. Have you experienced this as well? The thought of IBS has crossed my mind, but I don't think I have that. I've been trying to watch what I eat. I've been having a yougart every morning because it seems to help, maybe try that see if it helps you. It's good for the digestive tract. I love salt, but I don't think I eat that much salt, however salt can make you bloated as well. I won't eat broccoli anymore either. Cut out certain foods in your diet and see if it makes a different.

Can broccoli really make you bloated? I think I'll cry - I love raw broccoli! I thought I was doing so well by cutting my salt & carbs and eating more fruits & veggies instead...broccoli, for example

It may not for you, but it does for me. If it's not bothering you, by all means eat it up!

definetly try drinking more water and less salt.  I have been horrible this week with the bloated feeling and i think its because I have been lazy and eating frozen foods for lunch and dinner - I just don't want to cook for just myself.  Anyways I've been trying to drink my 8 glasses of water and add in some cardio to sweat all the salt and junk out.  I usually feel better before I go to bed but its just during the day at work that I feel the worst.
