what should I do with my hair? Help!
Permalink Closed

I need your help, ladies, b/c I'm not really a "hair person" at all.  I am getting my hair cut tomorrow and I don't know how to tell her to cut it.  I'm actually trying out a new person so hopefully she'll do a good job.  My hair right now is long and straight and dark brown with a few layers.  it's actually cut almost exactly like Jennifer Aniston's.  The problem is that I'm sick of it, it's super heavy and it's been chemically straightened so it just kind of hangs in my face.  I'm not sure what to do with it or how to have it cut.

I could just have it cut the same way I suppose.  Everyone seemed to like it at the time but it doesn't look good anymore (too many dead ends).

I know that I want to keep it relatively long and I want some layers, but I'm not sure how much of it should be layered given the fact that it's so straight I don't know how the layers would look all flat.  I tried to curl it but it won't even curl really--and that's too time consuming anyway.  I want something easy that I can just blow dry and go (yet natural looking and sexy too).

I have to decide by Sat morning.  Please help!!

i wouldn't TELL her anything. i would show her something, especailly if she's a new person. so maybe look for some pictures that you like. just be careful. i recently told my hair dresser to get all the dead ends off, and she took that as a free pass to cut, cut, cut. i was not too happy.

I haven't seen your hair in a while of course, but I loved it.  I think long dark hair is great on you.  I would just have her trim it up back to its healthy state and keep the same shape.  I am trying to remember...have you ever done bangs?  Seems like you would look good with bangs, long bangs swept to the side or something.

Bangs like this...

I recently chopped mine off above my shoulders and I really regret it.  Everyone says it is cute, but I really miss my longer hair.

Thanks, girls.  Shopgirl--I definitely want to bring in a picture and will be careful to make sure she doesn't chop it all off.  kari--thanks for the compliments.  I've never had side swepted bangs really, although I tried it once.  I'm sort of afraid that I won't know how to do it and that it will always be in my face.  Hmm.

Anyone know of any good sites to look for hair pics or if you see any please post!

btw Kari--I bet your hair looks adorable.  I remember thinking it looked cute the last time I saw you.  I think it was shoulder length then.  Anyway, I'm sure it looks lovely but I understand about wanting it longer!

ditto this..

I don't think you have to do much (although it's been a while since I saw you) long sweeping bangs would definitely look good I think
