mid-week shopping ban updates?
Permalink Closed

Here is mine (it's long, sorry):

Okay as you all know I broke the ban on Sunday and bought about $260 of clothes.  so, I said that I could only buy two things this week--some shoes to go with my easter outfit and the SM flats I want.  Well, I have looked around forever to find some neutral colored shoes that I love and that fit my cirteria--finally found some peep toes at Nine West for $60 and was about to purchase them--when I decided against it and found some shoes that I already own that will do.  so, i saved about $60 by not getting those.  Also, I have not gotten the $60 SM flats I want b/c I saw some other French Connection flats that Lilykind posted for $78 that I'd rather have (although I might get both, haven't decided).  So I bought neither pair of shoes I said I could get.  Also, I returned $34 worth of baby clothes to Hechts that Lucy just doesn't need.

So, since I was coming out ahead a little--I did spend $83 on 3 tunics/tops at alloy just now (you cna see them in the weekday shopping thread).  But, I figure that was intead of the $60 I didn't spend on shoes and the $34 I got back--which is $94 so I guess I'm okay.

Now I just need to decide what to do about the flats.  I am going to allow myself to buy 1 pair of cheap ballet flats at Target this weekend and then decide if I still need the SM ones.  I am definitely going to get the FC ones, but will wait until they come to the store so I can try them on (they're not in yet).

So that's not too bad, right??

um, I won't fuss at you if you don't fuss at me. I bought a $30 necklace / earring set from a girl at my knitting group that makes the prettiest clay polymer jewelry. I had on one of her necklaces so she gave me the earring that coordinate with it. And they sell for $60 at boutiques....I'm such a sucker! But it had butterflies & tulips on it & i was hopped up on snickers coffee....

I do have a $20 a week "allowance" and I have about $160 from ebay sales....but I should be paying down our NY tickets that I charged last week - I almost have them paid off though....

Oh my. We're all doing so well aren't we? Alb, I think you should just call yours a shopping decrease instead of a shopping ban, don't you think?

As for me, I'm doing well. I haven't purchased anything this week so far. BUT I've been trying to decide what I really need for the summer and make a list. I've got it down to a list. Hopefully I can use my Nordies giftcards for most of it. And I can definitely pick up one or two items here and there from Target (for jewelry) with my $50 a week. The board shorts I'll probably have to break down and buy but I'll budget them into next month's expenses, so that's okay.

  • board shorts

  • jewelry for summer

  • 2 new bras

  • workout clothes (1 pair yoga pants, 1 sports bra, perhaps new socks - mine are all so old)

Hehe!  I know, I know.  Okay, shopping "decrease" it is!  I did kind of crappy this week, but hey at least I limited today's alloy purchase to $80 (less than the $94 that I *saved*), right?  I know I'm the worst at making excuses.

blubirde and laken--you guys did really well.  Blubirde--your list looks great and appropriately limited.  I have to ask though, what are board shorts?

I'm still hanging in there. Seriosuly tempted by the pink tartan dress that Ayo bought though and i might need to break down and get it to wear o work.

Ugh, I caved @ the revolve sale & got yet another pair of jeans.

Although I only paid $36, I still broke my ban.  I'm back on the ban & will try harder not to cave again.

Girls - you're all doing just fine.  Remember this is a semi-ban, not a full out one!

I've done really well.  I'm actually proud of myself. I have bought absolutely nothing this week and not used my charge card once

Yeah, yeah! and if you spend a couple hundred my $30 will be like...well, nothing! That dress really is gorgeous too.

I've been bad, but I justify it because they weren't impulse purchases.

I bought a necklace that I've been eyeing on MightyFlirt.com since August, and finally decided to get it with the Lucky Breaks code.

Also got a pair of brown flats. I don't have any, and they're hard to find in size 11, so I pounced on them. My guess is they won't fit right and I'll end up returning them anyway. PLUS, I clicked on the Zappos link on ST, so it's for our common good.

One thing I'm proud of: I had about 7 items in my Old Navy shopping cart, and slowly but surely I talked myself into clicking the "remove from cart" button, until my cart was empty.

seriously! i feel like the only one here who is actually NOT shopping...

no shopping for me - aside from my $13 ebay dress last week (paid for with ebay profits) i haven't purchased anything since i started the ban two weeks ago. my toe finally peeked through my pumas this weekend but i resisted the urge to race to zappos and order a new pair of sneaks immediately. i'm going to see how i fare without a pair - it will probably encourage me to wear my pretty shoes more often!

Hey! I'm not shopping at all. I want to but I'm not. Sadly. My list is things I have to have for the summer and I plan on using xmas $$ on all of it. Anything else will have to come from my weekly allowance or not at all. That's called budgeting. Or so I'm learning.

alb - board shorts are the long surfer bathing suit short things to wear while doing water activities (preferably on a wave runner for me but for most I'm sure it's more active). I had a dilemma as to how to hide my flabby thighs for bathing suit season and STers came to my rescue with several cute board short suggestions. This summer I'm stealing Lilykind's idea and going for a surfer-chic look. I'm only getting the board shorts though. I'm making everything else work with what I already have.

alrighty girls, i would like you to know that i just stopped at Off Broadway Shoes on my way home and even though i found *three* pairs of shoes that i loved/wanted/needed, i resisted and didn't buy anything.  i don't know when i've ever gone in that store and left empty handed, so i'm feeling proud of myself.
