a knee-length jersey skirt. Something that is comfortable but could be dressed up a little. I am open to any color, but I do NOT want a bubble skirt or a skirt with an uneven hem. Any recs? I like this James Perse one, but it's not in my size.

did you look at american apparel? i've been looking for a similar style skirt for like forever. i keep meaning to try on this skirt but always forget. it says it's high waisted, but it doesn't look that way on the model.

there's also this skirt, but it might be fuller than what you want (did that make sense)

thanks, honey! I did see those a while ago. The 1st one is perfect, but the high waisted part scared me a little, because I am very short-waisted to begin with. I guess I could always size up, though, right? I like the second one too, but the waistband shape sort of bugs me. I may order them anyway, though -- they're so cheap, it might be worth it.

I am open to other suggestions too.

Halleybird: I have the "high waisted" skirt from American Apparel... and it's really not what the description makes it out to be.  The waist band is designed to be folded down, so it can be as high or low as you like (I usually fold the waist band over once and wear it low on my hips).  I'm short waisted as well, so I feel your pain there.  Still, I got TONS of compliments on that skirt last summer.  I'll definitely be ordering a couple more of them for this season.  Hope that helps!

rlutz: the Limited one sounds perfect! Too bad the closest Limited is an hour away. It might be worth the trip if I can't find anything else.

Eurodaisy: Thanks for the review! How long are they? And are they a lighter knit or more sweatshirty?

Halleybird: It's a heavier jersey, though not as thick as sweatshirt material.  The hem came to the middle of my kneecap (like the James Perse skirt photo), and I'm 5'9.  It's a pretty versatile piece, but it depends on how "dressed up" you want to get.  Here are a couple of outfits I'd feel comfortable wearing with it:

#1)

soda jerk tank

links and rivets sandals

#2)

balmy day cardigan

incense blouse

picnic peep-toes

I bought the cranberry color, but the eggplant is nice, too

I have this one in light toast (khaki). The fabric is so soft!
