Is this hideous?

Ummmm... I'm not feeling it. I don't think it will do much to cover your arms for 2 reasons:

1. It's sheer, so your arms will show anyway.
2. It will be excess fabric, only making your arms look bulkier (even if it is sheer).

the pose and the naked mannequin scare me too much. It looks like some demonic angel. I can't get past that enough to actually look at the top.

Hahaha! I think it has "big woman" written all over it. Like something Delta Burke would wear on Designing Women in her fat seasons. It's not the sleeves, to me, that make it look that way. It's the way the bottom is open and has no shape to it. But maybe it looks better in person? Or maybe if you did it up and put a sash around the natural waist?

It reminds me of silence of the lambs! You know when Dr. Lecter killed that policeman and took his face off? And the dead guy was hanging up in the Christ on the cross pose? CREEPY!

Yeah, not feeling it for the same reason blubirde said.

Also, FWIW, I've found that sheer things do nothing to help cover up problem areas. I've tried those sheer sarongs that you wear over a bathing suit, and I've always thought it made my thighs look bigger and more dimpled than they actually are. I think for truly covering up, an opaque fabric looks better.
