thanks for all the input! I'm seriously considering pairing the manolos with the cream shirt (I should have taken a shot of that...) but after ayo gave her blessing on the pollini pumps, I'm feeling better about those...
oy... decisions, decisions. I think I may try them on for my husband and see what he thinks (he's out of town and coming back tomorrow - interview is next Tuesday.)
another thought - there's a friend of mine, who, if they saw me with the purple jacket and cream ruffles would say "who are you supposed to be, Prince?"
hmmm...

ooh no! too funny...haha hmm well she got a closer look so I would probably trust her judgement a smidge more.. I really think the shoes should make an appearance.. hmm maybe a different style shirt?
actually, he said it to me when I was wearing an apple green velvet jacket and a white lace ruffle blouse... I also had black pinstripe cropped pants on with it - got some pirate comments on that outfit that day as well... so no - he did not see this specific pairing... do you think it looks at all "Princely?"
I don't want to be in the interview, having the guy thinking the same thing!

ooh I see...my bad, I totally misunderstood. Uhmm no I don't think it looks costumey at all. I honestly think it looks great. It's polished with a bit of pizazz..
I also like the idea of wearing the manolo's with the cream shirt..I think that would look great too..and might make you feel more comfortable which is also important

that would be hilarious! I know it's unlikely that they'll read the post, but I know for a fact they've been in here today -- so you never know...

Well, I liked both outfits and didn't want to vote, so I didn't respond. I definitely didn't think Prince when I saw #2. But, and this is just me, if someone had said that to me, I probably wouldn't be able to get it out of my head and would not feel confident in the outfit. I think ruffled shirts and suits are nice together. Maybe its just the purple/white combo that is triggering the comments?
I really like #2 with either pair of shoes...if you feel too "Purple Rain"-ish (I wouldn't have picked that up until someone mentioned it) then go with the bronze heels. Either way, you'll look gorgeous!

I was hoping you'd respond - I was curious which you would pick. yeah - the whole Prince thing was for a totally different outfit (the only people that have seen me in this suit are STers!) I mentioned it just in case it might look "costumy" -- I've decided that it doesn't.
So, I'm going with #2. The shoes will be determined day of. I'm on the fence - either pair would look good... I'm also going to wear my chunky pearl necklace, and probably hot roller my hair. I'll post a pic of myself that day so you can all see the final product.
Thanks, everyone, for all your help!
