These are the 5" chinos, about where on the thigh does that hit and are these even cute on? I don't have a j.crew near so I can't try them on. My husband plays softball in the summer so I have to have things to wear to watch him and not get too hot.
I think where they hit you would depend on how tall you are. I'm only 5'2", so those would be nearly mid-thigh on me.
If you have another pair of shorts that you like on, I'd measure the inseam just to see how different the Jcrew ones would be. Or if you have an Old Navy near you, they usually do shorts with different inseams each summer, so you could probably try similar ones on there. IMO Jcrew tends to run a bit big, so I'd consult their size chart. I think they're pretty good about exchanges if you did end up needing a different size, though.

Thanks Elle, these would be my first pair of shorts in a couple of years so I'll just go to old navy and try some of theirs on since I don't own any to compare it to.
I have a couple of pair of those from last year. They hit upper-mid thigh. I don't think they look frumpy, but anything shorter than that and I feel super hoochie. I thought I would want to size up because i hate tight shorts, but they were toooo big. So I got my regular size.

Thanks ejc! I don't wanna feel hoochie either so I thought the 5" would be good. Thanks for the sizing info also, I think I'm gonna make them my 10 pound lost present (as soon as I lose 10 lbs that is :)
