How Many Times Do you Hit the Snooze Button
Permalink Closed

In the morning when you wake up how many times do you hit the snooze button. I am the type of person that I wake up like a mintute before my alarm goes off. I don't know if i just don't like the sound of the alarm (even though I have it on radio) or if i just like waking up on my own.

Anyways, My boyfriend contantly hits the snooze button. He even factors this into the time he sets his alarm. He will set his alarm for like 15 mintutes earlier than he needs to. It drives me crazy.

I have never hit the snooze button. in. my. life.

I don't get the concept of setting the alarm earlier and then hitting snooze a bunch of times... I would rather get the extra 15 minutes of sleep!

I have never hit the snooze button in my entire life.

I don't get the whole setting your alarm early so you can hit the snooze thing.  If I need to get up by X time, you better believe I'm setting my alarm so I have just enough time to get ready before I have to leave.  If I could lay in bed for 15 more minutes, you better believe I would be sleeping, not hitting my alarm every 5 minutes!

Never- I am always afraid that it won't go off and I will sleep late. I hate getting up early, so I will set the alarm as late as I can and the min. it goes off I am out of bed. I don't have time to dork around or I will be late.

My bf sets his for like about 45 mins. before he needs to get up and hits it repeatedly. I don't get it. Wouldn't you rather have 45 mins of undisturbed sleep.

I don't use an alarm. I just know when to get up.

I set three alarms a few minutes apart from each other to ensure I get up.

zetigeist and others - i completely understand where you are coming from with "hello, get more sleep, set your alarm later rather than earlier so you can hit the snooze button."

you're right, technically it's healthier just to sleep straight through, but here's the dealio:
kudos to you guys to having the self-control to actually get up when your alarm goes off!

some of us know ourselves, and we just cannot get up the first time the alarm sounds - for me, i've got to hear it like three or four times usually to get up - the only times i can get up before or at the first alarm is when i've got something super important to do that day and i'm anxious about it (then i usually don't sleep very well anyway.)

but normally, when i first wake up, and am truly half asleep, i can justify any reason for sleeping longer.  "they won't mind if i'm an hour late at work today"

in college it was like "i know the teacher said he'd drop me if i missed one more class but i can just give him this excuse and everything will be fine."

i can't trust myself when i'm sleepy!  thank GOD for snooze buttons, b/c if the alarm went off once and that was it, i'd never be anywhere before noon!

Dude, I could have to get up at 3:30 in the morning and even if I have an alarm set I wake up before it even goes off.  My body is just weird about getting up when I have to (or every hour on the hour before that).  God bless those of you that can use alarms.  If you ever want to torture me just make me listen to one.  My skin literrally crawls when I hear beeping or buzzing noises; it makes me insane more than anything else.

I am the Queen of the snooze button. I always snooze for at least 30 min before I get up-- it's insane. My bf wants to KILL ME as he is a non-snoozer himself! But like Hermione, I can always justify to myself sleeping in for a few more min. - even if it's totally nonsensical later when I'm more awake.

I hit snooze way too much...I've actually hit snooze so many times that I couldn't hit it anymore, the alarm wouldn't go off.

This happens because in the evening, I have the intention of getting up early and going to the gym before work but in the morning, I always seem to find some excuse as to why I shouldn't go, so, I end up hitting snooze for that hour where I should be up, working out.  I need to take some snoozing advice from you all because my excessive snoozing is a bad thing.

i never used to use the snooze button, but since the time change (the time changed coupled with weekend of way too much partying and staying up late) i have'nt been able to get up. i hit the snooze 2 to 3 times, but mostly b/c the "snooze" button is much easier to find and 2" closer than the "off" button. finally, i get motivated enough to acutally turn the alarm off and then sleep fall alseep for another half hour to an hour. (i dont' have to be at work at a certain time).

outside of my recent lapse, i agree with everyone else who doesn't use the snooze. it's more irritating to me than anything else to have the alarm keep going off.

oh my gosh, I have to set my alarm for like an hour and a half before I get up. And I have three different alarm clocks with four different alarms going off (it's awful). My ex boyfriend honestly thought that we were having a battle of wills in the morning before he asked me to quit it and I told him that I don't even wake up for the first hour! He was sitting in bed trying to be more stubborn than me and I was genuinely asleep! It's completely awful, and for a while I thought it was because I wasn't getting enough sleep but now I can go to bed 12 hours before my alarm goes off and it's the same thing. I've somehow figured out how to turn them all off in my sleep. I'm never on time for anything, and while I work from home now I'm going in to interview for a new job tomorrow. I'm terrified that they'll fire me because I can't wake myself up early enough to be at work!

2. I could deal with one, but DH tries to be nice and resets the first one to go off earlier so that I "have more time to fall back asleep". Yeah that totally defeats the point! So in order tonot hurt his feelings, "his" goes off a half hour before I need to get up, and then mine gos off 5 minutes before I need to get up. Then I wake him up 10 minutes after that.

I snooze for like an hour. I always have good intentions of getting to work earlier, but rarely make it in before 9:30

I'm a snooze-aholic. When I have something really important and I can't oversleep, I seriously panic. My mom is an early riser in FL and sometimes I have her call me, because I usually will wake up for the phone. That is pathetic coming from a 30 year old, I know.

I turn off my alarm in my sleep all the time, I guess because its bothering me. Then I oversleep more than usual.

One time I kept trying to hit snooze without opening my eyes and it wouldn't shut off. So finally I opened my eyes and realized I was pointing the tv remote at the alarm clock!

I've never used it either. I'm afraid it won't work right and I won't get up. I didn't even know how it worked for a long time. DH was a snoozaholic and thought I was crazy. He had this horrible alarm clock that beeped so loud like a smoke detector- I would jump straight out of bed every morning it went off. That thing went in the trash. Now I wake up to Ocean waves and he wakes up to me telling him it's time to get up. It works much better this way lol.

I am soooo not a morning person.  I hate getting up for work.  I hit snooze probably 4 times and then only crawl out of my nice warm bed when Hubby practically shoves me out.  Sometimes, when Hubby's alarm goes off, I whack him like I'm hitting the snooze alarm.  I'm sure he loves that.   My body just can't do 6am.  It doesn't matter how early I go to bed, I can't wake up that early without being a zombie.  On weekends, I don't set an alarm and naturally wake up feeling rested at about 9am regardless of what time I got to bed the night before.

I set it for the last possible minute I can sleep in for.  I usually wake up on my own within 5 minutes of it going off.  I don't worry about falling asleep again because I know I MUST get my morning started.

My bf is the opposite.  He will set it EARLY like 30-60 minutes than he needs to and will keep hitting the snooze again and again, so f-ing annoying when you are trying to get some sleep.  Just get the hell up!  He's been very good about it lately, maybe he is learning.

For the people who frequent the snooze button should place their alarm clock away from the bed so you have to get up to turn it off.  Then just don't go back to bed, duh!

My clock is set 5 min. ahead of my computer clock at work, so......... I usually hit it about 4x's, but I'm up no later than 5:30. Today, or last night, I totally didn't set it, but funny, I got up at 5:30 anyway.

Many.

I have tried every solution to get out of bed. It just.does.not.work. Now, I use my cell phone as an alarm and basically sleep with it in my bed with me.
