on saturday i'm going to a red sox game with the bf and another couple.  the male half of the other couple got the tickets, so it's free - that's why i'm going.  i am not a red sox fan, though the other three are, i'm a yankees fan.  needless to say i will not be sporting any sox gear at the game.

that said, i don't think wearing anything yankees would be a good idea either, more out of fear for my life than anything else (though i may wear my yanks shirt underneath something else, just so i don't feel too traitorous).  the sox are playing texas or something, unfortunately, not ny.

SO - do i just wear whatever and not dress at all like i'm at a ball game?  i've never been before, but i assume 99% of the people there (especially since it's a sox game in boston) will be decked out in team gear.  if i just wear jeans and a sweater or something will i look like a party pooper?  should i say "f it" and wear yankees and hope the bf chooses to protect me over team pride?

I don't "dress" baseball. I'll do a hat sometimes, but that's it. And I'm a big fan. To me, it kind of seems like wearing a concert tee to the concert . I'd do jeans and then layers up top. For evening games at least, it usually starts off really warm and then cools off pretty quickly.

Hmmmm...I never wear team gear to baseball games (I'm a Yankee fan too!), just something cute and sporty.  It's mostly because I can't find anything cute that would be worth spending $$$ on.

However, I would definitely NOT wear anything NY to a sox game if they are playing some other random team.  That would just be asking for trouble   But don't bow to peer pressure and wear anything sox-related either!  Just secretly cheer for the other team.  Have fun!

I wouldn't wear Yankees gear either. From my BF I've learned that the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is not to be messed with (he's a Yankees fan and absolutely hates anything Sox related, as does his entire family; I've seen the reverse hatred from Sox fans too).

At most games I've been to, very few women wear team-related things, except a maybe hat and some wear t-shirts. I've also seen women decked all out like they're going to a club. I'd say wear something cute and casual, with comfortable shoes -- you'll have to walk up and down stairs and over spilled beer and who knows what else, so no shoes you prize and treasure and spent a lot on.

Personally, I would dress to suit the weather.  FYI...I'm a long time Boston fan and I try to get to Fenway Park at least a couple times a year and I never wear  "team" apparel...I usually just wear something weather appropriate and comfortable.

don't wear yankees gear unless you are prepared to be heckled. :) sox fans are great fun but can get rowdy...a lot of people do wear red sox gear but you totally won't look weird if you just wear something casual and cute and non-team related, like jeans and sneakers or flats and a cute top. and layers.

have fun!!! fenway is the most fun (and expensive) place to see a game--the crowd is always excited and it's just a fun atmosphere. i'm so jealous--we didn't manage to get any tickets this year so we'll be stuck finding them on craigslist again.

I would just go in jeans and some layered tops.  I go to Yankee games all the time and I never sport the gear...I would just dress comfy but cute

I've got tickets to 3 Yankees games this year and am pretty psyched!  One of them is for a Sept. 17 game against the Sox; should be really good since it's a late season game (assuming the Yanks pitchers don't ruin it this year)... Anyway, back on topic about outfits.   I don't do team gear either, but have thought about making my own tee.  I was going to do this last year: get a tiny fitted white tee and use either spray paint and stencils or freehand with paints a slogan "I Cano" but just never got around to it.  This year I bought a pair of navy shorts (first time since '98!) so I figure I will wear those on hot days with a pair of fake white Converse I got at Tarjey this weekend.  On top I was thinking about a funky graphic tee and a track jacket in case it gets cold.  Jeans are a great option too, especially for a early season game.  I want to wear a tube top (haven't received it yet, but I have high hopes) w/birds on it, then bring a cute little cami to cover up if I get cool.  Still gonna stick to the faux Chuck's since I prefer closed toe shoes at stadiums.  Last year I thought this one girl looked cute in a Juicy type outfit she wore with a baseball cap.  She played it up with cute make up and accessories so she still looked really cute while being casual; it's one of the rare instances I would even reccommend such an outfit out of the house, but on such a CASUAL occasion as a baseball game it totally worked.  You could blend in with the typical sneakers, jeans, t-shirt kind of thing, but play up your makeup and make your hair look really cute and still kinda stand out, kwim?

Anyway, don't worry too much because-as I'm sure you know-it will be impossible to under-dress at a game.  Just don't over-do it or you'll look silly, like another girl I saw with a belly-button showing top; it was just too much and she was totally getting stared at (hmmm, maybe that's just what she wanted, but when most people are raging drunks I don't think that's such a good idea).

Have a great time and drink lots of bear

ETA: bear = beer!  LOL

ETA ALSO: I wouldn't bring a purse to the game.  I did it once and regretted it; I didn't want to put it on the ground (gross) so I had to keep it in my lap and I kept spilling little bits of my beer on it.  I just keep a lipgloss and compact in my pocket now for bathroom breaks.

I'm a Yankee fan in Boston too, and I proudly wear my Yankees shirt a lot around campus. Sometimes I'll get dirty looks, but if someone's going to be that petty about baseball, just how cool are they anyway? That said, I wouldn't wear anything Yankees to an actual Sox game unless the Yankees were playing. I think you'd be fine in jeans and a sweater, everyone I know who goes to games dresses super casually.

i have cubs season tickets.  sometimes i wear cub apparel (my bf loves it), but when i'm with my girlfriends usually i don't.

tops:  layered tanks, vintage cubs shirt, printed hoodies.

bottoms: bermudas, men's cargo shorts (i these), jeans

shoes: flip flops, sneakers (although i hate wearing sneakers in the summer), chacos

just make sure that whatever you decide to wear, you don't mind if it gets beer spilled on it.
