Question about design class!
Permalink Closed

soooo, we went to dinner last week and my hair stylist had told me about a new boutique that had opened across from the restaraunt that i should check out.  he told me it was like anthro- but darker and more sensual.

we went over there last night, but before going in that shop- i went to a place called "Substance" clothing for Fashion Conscious People.  which was also a brand new shop- i swear- we get the best boutiques in columbus!

they have my dream!  they design clothes AND have a shop with other lines too!  and, best part is, they are having some design classes...  totally small and fun like t-shirt design- where we can embellish and/or deconstruct t-shirts...

my dilemna is that i like to design and have designed several things that my mother has made for me over the years and people have complimented me on... but i would feel really really weird going to a class setting b/c for me, my art and design is really personal...

but(!) i really want to go to this!  what do you think of it???

it's 2 hours and $30....

p.s. nicoley013- want to go with????  maybe if i had a friend along i wouldn't be so weird about it...

I think it sounds very cool.  In fact, I wanna know where all these cool boutiques are in Columbus.  Are they in Short North (is that what they call the area between downtown and Ohio State?)?  I go to Columbus a couple times a month and of course I try to hit Easton and sometimes Polaris but I would love to know where the unusual boutiques are.

If you  end up trying the class, let me know how it goes.  It sounds like a good time waster for when I travel up there!

you should do it. I know how you feel, because I feel the same way about writing classes. But they have always been helpful for me, no matter how much I didn't want to do them.

Bex... this sounds soo cool!  And how do you always find all these cool boutiques?  I guess it doesn't help im always stuck studying, limiting my shopping excursions.  Let me know what the names/locations of these new boutiques are, hoping to do some shopping this week or weekend.

Also, I would love to do this class with you, I am horrible at design and creativey sort of things, which is the reason why I would love to do this!  Maybe it could help bring out my creative side :)  Just let me know when the dates are for the class, I would just need to check my schedule to make sure I dont have any exams or other school commitments.

But count me in!

I think you should do it, because even if you don't like exactly when they are teaching/designing, you could pick up a few cool ideas or techniques to use later on.

And, more importantly, it sounds like a great opportunity to meet other girls/guys who are into fashion and design!  I'm totally jealous - it sounds like fun!

do it! do it! do it! It sounds like so much fun. I'm the same way about my "art" - man I use that word so loosely, but I think everyone would feel that way. Please go so I can live vicariously through you (ya'll). And it would be the most fun to do it with fellow STers!

I'd definitely do it. I feel the same way about my paintings. But, like Bex, I've always found new classes to be helpful and introduce me to some new things I try to incorporate at home. Do it and tell us all about it!
