Barneys Co-op set for Somerset

Barneys Co-op is set to open this fall at Somerset Collection South in Troy.

Co-op is an offshoot of Barneys New York, a luxury department store that had a branch here from 1992-97.

Co-op shoppers tend to skew younger than Barneys New York patrons, and the store is known for edgy and trendy clothing by high-end labels and indie designers.

Look for Juicy Couture, True Religion, Acne Jeans, Earnest Sewn and Rogan.

An idea of prices: $40 for a tank top, $345 for a sleeveless wrap dress by Diane von Furstenburg -- and way beyond.

The store is going into space occupied by Cache and Talbots Kids. Cache is expected to move within the mall; no plans have been announced for Talbots Kids.

When Barneys Co-op opens -- the first in the state -- it will further elevate Somerset Collection as a shopper's paradise.

Get Spanx at Target

Spanx -- a pricey line of shapers, bras and panties sworn to work magic for a body's little imperfections -- is launching a less expensive collection exclusive to Target.

By April 15, Assets by Sara Blakely will be in all Target stores and at www.loveassets.com.

Now, instead of paying about $25 each, you can buy control-top Fabulous Footless Pantyhose and Perfect Pantyhose with an invisible toe for $10 a pair, and Unbelievable Underwear -- a shaper that minimizes tummy, derriere, hips and thighs -- for $15.
