I have admired their stuff in the past, but the March issue of Elle had plenty of Benetton items I adore (especially this cap-sleeve floral blouse.) My question is do they have size XS,0? How does their sizing run? Quality? I looked at their website and they have a store in Seattle which would be worth making a trip to.
siaing runs on the small end so I think you'd be ok in that respect (I know they have xs, not sure about 0 cause they use italian sizes or something like that). IME quality isn't great and its overpriced. Lots of polyester blends.
I also think their sizing is a bit on the smaller side and their tops are XS, S, M, etc...pants are italian sizes...
I like some of their stuff, but unfortunately the quality has gone way downhill from what it used to be in the mid-90's. Everything used to be lined and made from nicer materials, now it does seem very polyester-y.
the other girls mentioned that their pants and skirts use italian sizing, but the SA that used to help me at my benetton gave me a little size conversion cheat. example: size 40 is equal to a 4 (4 + 0 = 4) and a 42 would be equal to a 6 (4 + 2 = 6). i think the smallest size they carried was a 38 (which was the size 2), but the sizes run a bit small. i'm usually a 0, but the 38 or 40 usually fit me well.
iirc they have size conversions in their store, but the size conversions are different from what hotcocoa posted. ime experience, the sizing based on their conversions is large, but i actually think the sizes hotcocoa posted are more accurate so i would use that method.
also fwiw i totally think they are overpriced, but they do have good sales. as others have mentioned, a lot of the stuff is polyester blends, and it totally feels like polyester itchy and stuff. that being said, i have some stuff from there that i really like, but it's very hit or miss.
Cortney, I am *planning* to go to a mall that has a Benetton tomorrow. If I make it, I will check out those things for you.
Fabulous! I was thinking these things would be good since they are in Elle magazine. The floral blouse (I just love the print, it reminds me of the Gucci floral print which I love but would never pay for) says cotton so I was thinking $59 is a good price if the quality is at least AE standards or above.
I did go, but none of that stuff was in the store yet. I looked at a couple of floral woven shirts they did have to get an idea. The cotton felt alright, pretty smooth, thin, not super soft though. The quality was probably comparable to AE, maybe slightly better. Hope this helps some!
