Mid-week shopping ban updates
Permalink Closed

anyone have any to report?  i wanted to share that yesterday i paid approx. $18 for a dress at F21, but it fell into one of my exception categories (soft, comfy hanging out dress) and was only $18.

i know it's only the 5th, but thus far I have spent only $33 on clothes this month-- $14 for a long white tank (that I really needed) and $18 for the dress.  this is a huge improvement from my spending last month, and I think I'll wear both items very often.

Alb - thanks for posting this!  I'm doing well.  The only thing I've purchased since my ban started is makeup from Sephora and that's an exception, because I ran out of things.

How's everyone else doing?  Glad to see you're doing good too Alb!

I so far haven't purchased anything. I think this is because I haven't been shopping and that I am to busy to shop. I have been trying to make new outfits from my clothes, and so far it has been working. We will see though....

Good for you, shopchicago and kel!  i'm proud of us (and everyone else that's doing this)!  Let's try to keep each other informed of what we buy so that we can remain accountable to each other!

I bought a summer black dress and clearance cardi from Target last night. But those were in my exceptions because I used leftover xmas money. So far, the only $$ I've spent was dinner last night. Yea for me! Yea for all of us!

Iam holding up well. I went to payless and try on some shoes and I was tempted to get so cute coral colored wedges but I didn't I can't wear open toe shoes to work any more so I would not get much use out of them but I still want them

I really don't believe in shopping bans, but I am joining. I need to save $500 for my trip to Europe in June. So I don't get to buy anything unless it's on giftcard (have two tiny ones left). I can also use up my paypal balance, but I think I want to use it on some good walking shoes.

It's going to be hard, because I am going to San Francisco this month, and they have a Zara and an H&M, which I have never been to. But I need to be strong...

I think I need to join you guys. I just paid some bills and I have approx. $90 to my name. So far this month, I have spent about $120 on clothing, shoes, and accessories. Tomorrow I'm returning a pair of shoes I paid $52 for. I really need to be honest with myself and admit that I'll never wear them, even though they are beautiful and I love looking at them. I'm also returning a Luella Bartley for Target shirt that looks like a pajama top on me. So that's $20. So factoring in my returns (even though I bought those items last month), I have only spent $48 this month. I know my reasoning makes no sense, but it helps me sleep at night, especially since I can't afford to drown my sorrows in booze!

I've been ok, but I'm itching to buy a raincoat/trench. It's rained every day this week and the one I have is 2 sizes too big and looks totally stupid (it doesn't even have a belt to help cinch it in). I MIGHT have to see if I can find something cute for under $50 or so. I worked a ton of overtime last week so I have some extra cash in my check today, but that really should go to pay off my cc....

Ok, girls - I'm going to be honest.  I semi, sorta fell off the shopping diet!  Here's what happened.  I was going to allow myself a new bikini, because honestly, i only had  one.  I planned to wait till next payday to buy one, but I found the one I had been drooling over that was sold out everywhere online...so I had to buy it and charge it...that's ok right?

Uh huh. But what about that Juicy sweater that you'll buy if someone finds it? That was you, right? Be strong SC33. You can do it. Having *stuff* is not the be all, end all. (Trust me, I'm lecturing for my own benefit, not yours. I have an absurd fascination with stuff. Just call me the Lorelai of the real world.)

As for the suit, if you budgeted for it already, then just use your budgeted cash and put it towards your cc next month. That should make it even. Just make sure you actualy do it though. I'm the queen of good intentions...

I fully intend to use money from my next paycheck to pay the amount of the bathing suit off on my cc!

As for the Juicy sweater, yes, that was me, but I really doubt I'm going to find that...and I have been yearning for that for at least 6 mos!

I'm back on a ban & I need major support. I figure I don't need to buy anything since I'm losing weight. Plus I'm starting to save for NY in November. The thinking is that I should be thin enough by then to buy a ridiculous amount of stuff! I've been crazy insane all week so it's not like i've had opportunity to buy anything. Monday I have to return some stuff to Target & Nordies, so that will be a challenge....

I feel you on the sweater thing. There was a BCBG sweater vest a few winters ago that I was dying for. I saw it at the outlet over the spring and still didn't buy it for some odd reason. I still think about that sweater when I don't have anything to wear to work...

I guess I shouldn't really be talking anyway. I'm already planning on attending an earlybird sale at my favorite local vintage shop Saturday morning. BUT I'm only planning on getting ideas for my future remodel. Or if it's under $10. Okay I suck. Oh kaykay, why did you have to write that? I'm a pitiful excuse for a shopping banner. Must. Do. Better.

I've done well this week. I haven't bought anything, and I have 2 returns to make this weekend which should total around $100 back in my pocket.

I am planning on going to The Bead Shop and making some jewelry this weekend, but that's on my list of pre-appoved items.

I've done ok this week.  the only thing was i spend $12 at the grocery store and I bid on a ella moss top on ebay for $15 so if I win that won't be too bad.  It won't break me.  I'm trying to be strong though but I finally made it through busy season and I was hoping to treat myself to something nice but I really need to pay off my couch and save a little extra.  I guess it will depend on when I get my tax return (yep I got a refund!!! which I will use to pay to retake freaking becker and the cpa and then save the rest to replace what I had to spend to move here).  I may have to reward myself in may after my couch debt and cpa exam debt is gone and I have the extra $$

SC33 it is okay, it is hard. At least you budgeted yourself, like Bluebird said you just need to make sure you pay it off.

As for me, I only bought easter stuff for the baskets which totaled like $40 at the most. I used my GCs that I have been wanting to get rid of for most of it. I went to the mall today but I didn't buy anything. But I did show my boyfriend a headboard that I liked and he is going to make it for me. Which made me happy.
