Does anybody have any idea how much they cost?

Has anybody done them?

I have had them done a few times. It cost anywhere from $250.00- $500.00. The first time I had them done my stylist recommended someone, so I didn't know the person I was going to. After that my stylist did them, so she charged me less. I find cost really depends on where you go and who does it. Most places will have a consultation with you (at least they should) and talk to you about your hair and what to expect.

I have had them put in using the mini links. They are these little metal circles that you put the extensions and your hair in. Then you take a tool and flatten the link. They are really tiny, so it you don't notice them in your hair.

I was always happy w/ them. I was thinking about getting the done again this summer.

it really depends on what type of extensions you want, the area you live in, etc.

i've not done the type of extensions ryanj is talking about, but i am more familiar with heat-bonded extensions and weaves. weaves are pretty inexpensive in terms of extensions. typically, they are sewed into your hair via tiny braids braided very close to your scalp. the longevity of these really depends on how fast your hair grows, but i think anywhere past three months and you can start to notice them.

heat-bonded extensions use a keratin glue to bond the extensions to your hair. these are $$$$. usually at least 500, and take quite a bit of time to put in. sometimes this can be damaging to your hair....but the extensions can last at least 6-9 months.

i have a few salons that i visit that are doing extension work.  the two ways above are the ways that they do them.  the most popular is the glue based ones b/c they are less distressing to fine/thin hair.  they are VERY pricey and VERY time consuming to get put in.  however, they last quite a long time- at one salon, one of the girls has had hers in for a year and a half.  I have priced them in several cites from OH to NJ and they are all in the $600-1200 price range.
