I do know who it is and I've PM'd her.  The member was apparently just having fun. Some were able to see the humor and others weren't.  I'm just going to let it slide.  Besides, you would be surprised (as I often am) about how many regular posters there are that post under more than one member name.  'Tis the nature of the internet and forums, ladies...

thanks for posting this.  i had a feeling the person was joking, but for me it's a lot easier to enjoy the posts when you know they are light-hearted and not mean-spirited.

jahni- you're right, she did hit the redneck nail on the head.

I alwasy thought of it more as an old lady thing. My great grandmother would get her hair "done" every Monday. She had the old lady helmet permed hair. I don't know if she had it permed every week or what was going on. I think I remember her throwing the word "set" around too.

Well in this thread "billie Sue" seems to know Kay Kay's husband, so who knows? http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=44784&subForumID=102179&action=viewTopic&commentID=5903660

jahni - may isn't fictional, kaykay said that may is her grandmother.

while i certainly appreciate billie sue's humor - i can honestly say her posts crack me up - i do think they were getting a bit snarkier and also targeted toward one or two people who may not have understood that billie sue was bs.

it doesn't bother me that regular posters may have aliases on the site, i know that there are certain things that some people aren't comfortable posting as themselves.  but this was a little different.

meh...I thought it was just in good fun. I really did not think the person was making fun of anyone in particular...but hey I'm naivete and not very sensitive to these things so maybe I didn't catch on..

I'm sorry but she definitely had me in tears on some occasions..

but if it is offending people on the board then maybe enough already

I'm just reading up on all of this now - not sure how I missed it yesterday since all I did was post on ST buuuuttt...

I personally think Billie Sue's posts were a joke. I was laughing reading about them. I wouldn't have posted anything in response to any of her posts because I wouldn't have wanted to get involved. That said, I've seen some posts with new people get pretty nasty on this forum and I don't like it. A few newbies in particular come to mind (as getting picked on).

I think the answer is to just ignore the bad apples and move on. If someone's new and being nasty, just ignore them. It could be they aren't familiar with online communication or it could be that they're trying to stir up trouble. Either way, I try to just ignore.

Regarding the beauty and health thread, I didn't know if billie sue or may were real, but I didn't have any advice for may's original question so I didn't respond.

I'm glad you brought it up though Metric. I personally don't like to see anything but happy, happy, joy, joy here on the forum - at least in attitude.

I really think this may be getting taken a little to seriously...it's obvious to me  that "billie sue" is just someone's way of being silly, and she's kind of funny...I'm from a small town and she really does remind me of some of the locals...by the way, I think i've mentioned before that my mom owns a beauty shop and she does have the little old ladies that come in once a week for a shampoo and set, I think maybe it's just a southern thing? Billie Sue has really hit the redneck nail on the head...

I agree with Jahni. It is obvious to me that someone wants to get a reaction out of us. I think it was done in good fun and I've responded to some of the posts as I have assumed they are just being silly?? And I haven't really noticed anyone being really "mean-spirited".. Maybe I am just thinking we are all witty, sarcastic women.. while others are thinking it is being nasty and rude. I doubt Billie Sue is intentionally being cruel to anyone?

I agree.  I understand the purpose of aliases and I don't think it's a big deal but it seemed that Billie Jean was targeting a specific user(s), which I think is really pretty mean and uncalled for.  However, I do agree that she definitely did do a good job with the hick thing :)

So they ask a question under one name and answer it under another?

in regards to billie sue, i misssed most of the threads that you guys are talking about, but after i saw her post in this thread, i just assumed she was another of kaykay's friends/family members.

Oh man. I'd be way to afraid to do something like that. I wouldn't want to do something deceitful and know detroit knew I was doing it. How would I look to her after that? Eek. I'm such a fraidy cat about lying!!

The rules state they can be banned for it, but not absolutely banned for it.  I haven't really seen anyone use it in a way that compelled me to want to ban them.

That's really funny. If they can answer their own question, why do they need us?

But then she started a new thread for May, and said specifically that she hoped they got a few replies before Billie Sue saw the post .......
