STYLETHREAD -- LET'S TALK SHOP!

I got a pair of Seven A pockets today at Filenes for $79.99.  They are sort of a dark rinse but a little distressed (they have a couple of holes in them).  I love them.  However, they are a little big on me.  They fit okay in the legs but they pooch out just a tiny bit in the butt.  They are a size 27, and I probably need a 26 or maybe a 25 (I can wear a 25 in citizens, not sure about sevens though).  The sa called other stores but cannot locate them in a smaller size.

My question is--should I try to take them to a tailor in get them taken in somehow, wear them as is or return them?  I have to get them cut off anyway b/c they're too long, but I don't know if jeans can be taken in in the seat or anywhere else.  Does anyone know?  TIA.

btw I may take a pic later and ask for opinions of the fit on me, but right now I'm curious as to whether or not they can be taken in and if so, if it would be worth the money.
