My parents aren't very religious, and didn't take us to church when I was growing up. So, I have limited experience with going to church, but nothing against it. My boyfriend's parents have invited me to attend Easter services with them this year. I'm not sure what I should wear -- how formal do you need to be? I assume I should be covered up and not wearing a spaghetti strap dress or something similar unless I had on a cardi, but besides that I'm at a bit of a loss! My BF said he never pays attention to these things, so he wasn't much help except to say women are into Easter hats. Do people still do that? Ack! TIA!
ETA: I was at Bloomingdale's today and the saleswoman recommended this:
This dress is fine for church, but its not worth spending that much money on it unless you plan on getting alot of use out of it. The Easter hats are only in for the older ladies I know the older ladies at my church do that. From what I seen you could even do trousers and a nice blouse. HTH
it probably depends on the church, but i think you would be fine with that dress, or even a top and skirt. i don't attend church anymore, but when i did i saw everything..generally i think the only people who wear hats are either really old or really young. (like little kids)
if you don't normally wear church-esque clothes, maybe something inexpensive from target.
i think some ladies on the forum have this dress and have said positive things about it:
thank you, ladies! knowing i don't need to wear a hat is a relief. i found that blue dress above on ebay and am bidding on it, and it should turn out to be much less expensive that way.
I currently don't go to church anywhere but I grew up going every time the door was open. In all the churches I've been to only the older ladies wear the hats....I think you are fine without one. The blue dress is appropriate and very pretty. Easter service is a good one to attend. I hope you enjoy it.
