thank you for smoking was the best movie ever. and im not even exagerating a tiny bit. all the actors were awesome (including maria bello who was also awesome in history of violence, go rent this now!), and the directing was awesome as well. there were so many little side jokes which really made the movie. it was so terribly tounge in cheek the whole way through, amazing stuff.
in case anybody wasn't aware of it...cause its a "independent" movie, it's about a tobacco lobbyist.
eta: oops...i just searched for this and realized that lilykind already posted the thumbs up about it....guess i should learn to do that first. but it's worth a second thumbs up!

SO happy to hear this! i'm going to see it tonight and i was worried that it would be a disappointment. the trailer for this movie is seriously *the best* trailer i have ever seen for a movie - it's perfectly done, the song is perfect, the scenes they chose are perfect. as soon as i saw the trailer a few months ago i've been looking forward to this movie. yay! i'm so happy to hear that it's good!

pretty much everything you think about the trailer you will then think about the movie. the way that they payed attention to every single detail for the trailer is the way the movie was done.
i really can't gush anymore about this movie. it is now my favorite movie of all time. i actually even liked katie holmes in it.
jason reitman who directed and adapted the screenplay only did short length films before this. the longest, i think, of his was like twenty minutes. the way that you have to get everything right in a shorter film comes across in his first feature length film. im just so amazed that he got everything right the first time, it's gotta be hard to go from twenty minutes to two hours or however long it is. i can't wait till he does something else.
