LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jessica Simpson has babies on the brain. The 25-year-old singer filed for divorce from Nick Lachey last December but her publicist says Simpson is looking at adoption.








"I want to adopt, and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids," the pop star recently told TV's Extra.

"Nothing has been finalized yet" as to when and how Simpson will adopt, her publicist, Rob Shuter, told The Associated Press on Tuesday. But he added, "It is true that she's exploring options."


Shuter said Simpson and her family have anonymously contributed funds to a smattering of Mexican orphanages for several years now. The singer started visiting the orphanages with a church group at age 11.


"I want to adopt, and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids," the pop star recently told TV's Extra.


In the interview, Simpson cited a certain high profile mother as an influence.


"I think Angelina Jolie has done amazing, amazing things, and the international adoption rate just since her has skyrocketed," she said. "It's unbelievable."


Simpson is best known for starring in the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica with Lachey, who gained fame as a member of the boy band 98 Degrees.

I am not sure if this puts a good light on international adoption or not. And just for the record, Angelina had no bearing on us adopting from CHINA,

First off, why does she look so plastic in that picture? Sorry-I was just a tad bit scared with that!!


It is one thing to wear a pair of shoes or buy a bag because a celebrity has it, but adopting a kid!! I think Jessica sounds like she is just trying to fill a void in her personal life, and why not adopt a baby-Angelina did. If she does adopt a baby I will feel almost as bad for that child being raised in that crazy family as I will Tom and Katies upcoming child.

Ok hear me out-


Is it just me or has anyone given thought that maybe she came up with the idea so that she could keep most of her money, becoming a mom and not have to give up as much or any to Nick? I just thought of that the other day. Why, why does she want to have a child, now?

She was actually quoted saying this when she was still married and filming Newlyweds. I think the media is just bringing it back up again and she is ok with that being on record for her. It puts her image in a different light than a moron who left her husband and parties all the time. So I think it is just her people working on her image. I highly doubt she will adopt any time in the near future, so thankfully some children will be saved.

Maybe I am just totally cynical, but I think this is a publicity move. She's gotten all this bad press for the divorce and the cheating on Nick rumors, and the last time she went on an Operation Smile trip (last fall) she skipped out on an event for little kids and got bad press for that too. So now with the recent trip to Washington DC and this stuff about adoption, she's only getting nice press and people have stopped talking about her as a cheating wife. I hope she doesn't get to adopt any time soon!

I agree, sounds like a PR stunt to me, especially w/all the bad press she's been getting.  Sounds like a Papa Simpson idea to me.
