Geeze, I've been watching this auction on Ebay for a couple days and I almost bid $42.00 for this pair of silver BR sandals. Thankfully I read the listing more carefully. I have the IDENTICAL pair in gold, I would love to have them in silver! They retailed last summer at $58 I think. The ones I have are leather soled and have a leather upper. This guy says these are manmade and not in a box, but were hung on a string in the store. ??? I never saw that, why would BR make two identical versions of the same sandal?

The thing that gets me is that the start price was 29.99, wouldn't you assume they were leather? Anyone remember these from last year? Think this is a counterfit deal?

Hmmm, I think you're right to be skeptical.  Firstly, I don't think BR uses fake leather.  Secondly, I don't think they'd make the gold version that you have in real leather only to make the silver version in fake leather.  Thirdly, from the description it sounds like they had them on the little plastic flip flop hangers like ON or Gap does, which is not something I've ever seen BR do before.

RAR210 might be able to help you out, too.

I've seen non-leather versions in the outlet, in the same style as the regular stores.  For instance, there was a leather gold/silver flip flop that was I think around $60 in the retail stores, and then a non-leather version at the outlet, for around $20.  And they were hanging on a little plastic hanger in the outlet.  Quiet cheapey.

Another vote that they are from the BR outlet.  Some things from the BR outlet are good quality wise and some things aren't.  For $42 I'd pass on them.  For $20 I'd get them and give them a try if that helps any.

I also agree that they're from the outlet...

That's how they display their outlet shoes, on those plastic things.

I've never purchased shoes from the BR outlet so I don't know about quality.

Thanks all, I passed... he relisted today at the same 29.99 plus 9.00 shipping (!!) He did email, said he buys from a Banana distributor and some things are made for the outlets and some for the stores, fine, that makes sense.  What doesn't make sense is why on earth would BR make the identical shoe in both vinyl (?) AND leather???

I can't believe I was almost such an Ebay ninny, I would have certainly won myself a very expensive pair of plastic shoes...I mean who the heck is going to think a BR shoe that starts at a 29.99 bid isn't leather???? Especialy when the LEATHER shoe was in the regular store the season before. Arrggh!!
