Where should we go on vacation?
Permalink Closed

I'm trying to decide where we should go this summer.  We're taking 2 trips.  A land trip and (hopefully) a sea trip (cruise).  Where should we go for an outdoorsy type vacation in the western U.S.?  I'm thinking Colorado, Utah, Idaho... something like that.  California is out (grew up in SoCal) and I live in Phoenix, so Arizona is out too.  We want to stay 5 nights or so with our two girls and another family.  Preferably somewhere LOTS cooler than Phoenix.  I'm thinking lake, or river...

???

~ I know... I posted this in Travel too.  Thought it might get more hits here and I'm in a travel research sort of mood right now!

I really had fun at Lake Tahoe in Nevada.  Also, Lake City, CO is a lot of fun.  The locals call it Texas City in the summer because so many people come there during the summer.  Both places are beautiful and lots of fun.

how about Yellowstone? Too far? I have always wanted to go there -- I bet your kids would love it. My 2nd suggestion was Tahoe.

We loooved Yellowstone.  I don't remember that much about it since I was younger but that was one of our favorite vacations.  Old Faithful was fun to watch and the place we stayed was right near it and very historic and cool.

My parents went and loved it too.  It was part of their Grand Canyon/ Bryce National Park/ Zion National Park vacation.  They had a lot of fun at all of those places.

I would want to go to Yellowstone.  For a cruise I would want to go to Alaska.

Zion was my first thought when I read your post.  I was there once about 10 years ago and it was incredible.  Or, what about getting a houseboat and boating around for a week or so on Lake Powell in Arizona?  We did that on the same trip that we went to Zion and Lake Powell was so much fun.
