STYLETHREAD -- LET'S TALK SHOP!

I've been coloring my hair with permanent hair color at home for a long time (5 years at least).  I think I ended up stumbling onto my own hair color, and it's probably a good idea that I give it a rest for a little while.  The highlights are growing out right now, though, and I'd like to use a semi-permanent hair color to just kind of even everything out and add some shine. 

I haven't used semi-permanent hair color since high school, so I have a feeling that there are some better products on the market.  My main goals are long lasting rich color and shiny hair and I can buy it at a drugstore or Target.  I usually use Loreal products, but I'm willing to try another brand.
